I'm not following

I have no idea why 76ciology posted that stat. I guess it was just a recently noted curiosity. You asked what it implies, so I simply tried to draw a conclusion from the data given. :D

My takeaway is that Maxey probably has more defensive upside than he’s given credit for. Fox was considered a pretty good defense prospect at PG but his effort has been poor in the NBA. Maxey on the other hand mostly gets dismissed as a defensive liability which I don’t think is a given.

I thought with the whole Ben Simmons fiasco we were going to learn not to overrate our young prospects.

Maxey is a nice player but there is many like him in the league, him ever becoming a top 15/20 player is a longshot and he's far away right now. I never liked how many of our fans see him as a certain superstar. I understand that the boy is very likeable but we have to be objective.

His best role right now is a 6th man gunner.

It woudn't be crazy at all to trade him for an established wing all around player and a veteran 6th man while also unloading Tobias.

Embiid and Harden window is right now and maybe next year. We don't have time to wait.

That's all good in theory but no one is trading you a good 2-way wing for Maxey. It just isn't going to happen because of positional value.

I fought the idea of Maxey as 6th man for a long time, but with this group it's the most logical and effective way to maximize not only what he does, but how good the starting lineup can be with a more defensive, athletic guy at the 2 opposite Harden.

Yeah of course it's easier sayed than done.

But many of our fans thinks hes nearly to untouchable.

He shoudn't be, not even close. And i don't think getting a good deal like that is also that big of a long shot. Lot of teams are going to start thanking in a few weeks.

So what's the definition of a "microwawe scorer"? Can they score 44 points in a game? And grab most boards in their team although they are a 6'2" guard? :)

I think it would be a good idea to keep him for at least another game.

There aren’t many guys valuable enough to trade Maxey for though. In almost all scenarios, you would look at it and either say “that’s not enough” or “this doesn’t help to win now”.

The deals you would make, like a Tatum or a LaMelo, the other team laughs and hangs up.

Ask yourself.

Did Maxey looked like a liability on defense in our recent game?

How could Raps play great defense with two defenders who Harden likes to hunt in both GTJ and FVV?

Actually i first posted about trading him just before the game lol.

I know, perfect timing.

I still think the same, i like the kid but don't see him becoming a sure superstar, he shoudn't be close to untouchable.

He looked amazing today tho, reminded me of Dame Lillard which is saying a lot.

The reason our defense was better, was because we were hitting everything, so they couldn't go out and run, as a result our transition defense wasnt' tested nearly as much.

His speed should always be a factor in the sixers offense. The sixers are too predictable and slow and defenders exert more energy chasing Maxey around rather than force feeding Embiid just so he can turn it over , watching Harden dribble dribble dribble, or slow tobias middys. Have Maxey running around off screen , or put him in dribble handoffs , p&r with Harden or Tobias and put Embiid on the other side of the floor for spacing.

It's another reason why IMO wings always go off on the sixers besides us not having good athleticism and length there, we are not making guys work on the other end.

We’ve allowed higher points per possession(1.31) when we made a FG than when we missed a FG (1.26)

You dont see this type of effort in last game

Maxey has officially arrived. Actually he arrived last year during the playoffs. This year I see an even more improved player. I think the fire is officially lit with him. Last night he was playing with the upmost confidence that superstars play with. Yes, it was his night, but I think a lot of nights are going to be his night this year. We were so fortunate to land him in the draft and it's a blessing to finally have luck be on our side with a later round pick. He looks improved across the board though. From a physical point of view, he's the fittest I've seen him. The game has slowed down for him and he's basically a scoring machine at this point. There aren't too many players that I would trade him for at the moment. He's as close to untouchable as they come and I think we just need to ride this out. The early season struggles may very well continue for a little while longer, but we're going to right the ship and it will be because of him.

The issue is that someone has to make the hard decision to make Maxey the primary option, especially when he's hot like he was last night. Someone needs to make some scheme adjustments allowing this team to play faster with more off-ball movement.

The question is who that someone will be?

Of course just when it was obvious that Toronto had no clue as to stop his hot start, it was Doc who sat him down. Doc has always shut him down and frozen him out at the most inopportune moments. Imagine having a coach who knows how to go to the hot hand instead of finding multiple weapons an inconvenience.

I just think Gs, in general, have to generate takeaways to recoup any defensive value. Their size makes then an inherent liability. Maxey's issue is that he just doesn't generate enough steals to make up for his diminutive size.
