I'm in section 111, though now I live in Estero (Ft Myers area) and have only been able to attend one game this season due to a variety of personal issues. Of course the first year i upgrade to stadium club i rarely go

Good to see them do what they should to a weaker team, locked in after that second drive

Now the schedule gets real.

UCF hasn't had to take a flight yet this season and are 5-1 (should be 6-0).

But now you have 3 of the next 4 on the road with a ranked team sandwiched in as the only home game. We're gonna find out if this is gonna be a 10-2 and win the conference season or an 8-4 weak finish season.

I’m not even worried about how this season ends. As long as we are building for our eventual shift to the big 12 I’m happy.

agreed, to go out winning the American would be great but at least do well enough to further encourage recruiting.

Quite frankly if JRP continues to play as he has been the last 6 quarters we'll win out. if he struggles like he did early in the season against better competition it could get rough again. But he's looked much better, so i'm hoping that a lot of that early stuff was rust and getting in rhythm with his receivers.

ECU is one of those teams that I really don't know how to read. I could see us rolling them or I could see them giving us a real good fight.

Just an all around terrible game. Looked horrible on both sides of the ball.

How do you go from 70 to 13 pts including 3 at the half?

Probably the worst game this team has played in a long time. JRP's three turnovers to start the game obviously were a big deal, but despite them we still had a shot, but the defense really laid an egg (didn't force a punt until late in the 4th quarter). For a defense that we've been touting, they really came up short. They're equally to blame IMO. You could argue that the early turnovers just sapped the energy and the defense had to be on the field for so much of the first half they got gassed, but it didn't really feel that way. ECU was just running an incredibly efficient offense, killing clock and marching down the field. IMO the secondary was just giving way too much cushion, so concerned about giving up a big play that they just kept letting ECU pick up first downs.

And when this offense is behind, coming back seems to be a real problem because JRP struggles through the air. He was making bad reads and forcing it into double coverage all night. Really not a good showing for him.

The good news is the conference is still very much in play. Focus on Cinci, bring the noise and let's hope being back at home rights the ship.

side note: For the love of god can someone get in Gus' ear and tell him to stop the sprint to the line after a big play just to snap it quickly and run right up the middle. Every team clearly knows that is the go to play. I'd love to see some stats on how often Gus is doing it, because it seems like EVERY play over 25 yards is followed up with a dash to the line to snap the ball and....run up the middle for like 2 yards.

that was brutal, I turned it off late in the third

Did they think it was going to be easy after the last game or what?

ECU's QB and receivers made some great plays

Hard to say, but certainly felt that way on defense. I mean honestly the offense felt fine until the turnovers those first two drives. They were moving down field just fine. That first interception was right after that wide open pass got dropped that would've been a TD. The third turnover was on 4th down and was a terrible read by JRP, but again he could've picked it up, instead it was like a punt. Those are three drives that probably should've ended up with points. Instead the defense was on the field quickly and it just felt like the energy wasn't there. And then we were eventually playing from behind, and the defense couldn't get a stop and the offense sputtered. Just couldn't get any momentum.

I don't think the defense really gave up, they kept the Knights in the game for the first half even with the first three possessions being turnovers. They looked moreso tired to me after being on the field for so long in the second half.

Didn't force a punt until like 7 minutes left in the game. Tired or not, that's BAD defense.

I don't watch too many ECU games, but having an experienced QB like Ahlers and the way ESPNU talked him up he seemed unstoppable. Maybe there was extra motivation with us going to Big XII next year as well.

I hope in the future when we have games like this Malzahn will ease up more on the no huddle.

Excellent win yesterday. Keene looked so good in relief of the injured Plumlee that I think it's certainly reconsidering who QB1 actually is moving forward.

UCF is in control of their own destiny now. Win out and they'll play in the AAC conference championship game.

Also...

There's pretty credible rumors out there that Malzahn fired a graduate assistant **during** the Temple game and that GA handed over UCF's playbook and signals to East Carolina in retaliation.

It will likely never be proven, but certainly interesting to monitor.

Great win and bounce back from ECU. It's kind of crazy we're ranked all of a sudden. It helps that ECU and Louisville are both also receiving votes.

Win out (including championship game) and a NY6 is still a possibility as well I believe. That's crazy.

First things first, focus on Memphis. Keene certainly deserves to start IMO, but I would be surprised if he actually does if JRP is cleared to play. Maaaaaaaaaybe Gus starts splitting series, but it just seems super doubtful that he would actually yank JRP after a concussion just because his backup came in and had a great game. I know fans want it to happen because a lot of them aren't thrilled with JRP's consistency, but it's a bad signal to players that you could lose your starting spot to a rough hit.

Either way JRP likely out this weekend vs Memphis so Keene will get some more time to show why he should be the guy.

Yea it would explain why we just looked so awful that game, but i also don't want to put too much stock into it just yet. Like you said, at best it'll become a scandalous story that might get some attention, but in the end it'll likely never be proven and no repercussions would come of it. I also think it's just considered dirty, not necessarily cheating or against the rules per se. not sure no that to be honest.
