Maybe our supposedly elite coach should install a system rather than relying on chucking threes and isoball.

- losing woulda sucked but i still woulda been like "meh, team's kinda putting it together, it just needs a couple guys figuring out their roles and/or losing/gaining minutes.
- one of those guys is reggie, and as much as i still believe him to be the goat playoff clipper, he's been miserable on the court all season. one of the issues is that his possessions end up dead so much of the time and he's still as bad as ever on defense. the rockets turnaround began when they relentlessly assaulted him on a high s/r in the second quarter, like 3 times in a row or something.
- related to that, is that without john wall, so many of these possessions are ugly iso bail-outs, which, ok sure is probably one of the team's strengths, but you don't want to rely on that, ever. you can stomach it if kawhi's active, or if reggie's hitting shots, or if your primary offense is coming from active ball movement or consistently hitting 3's. we have none of that so all these yucky isos that die are effectively just really bad turnovers. so to me, too much of this means reggie has to sit, because even if norm powell isn't that much better as a distributor, he's going to attack the rim and play better defense than reggie. if lue doesn't figure out a reggie solution on nights where 2-3 key guys are sitting out we are going to be in danger of being a play-in team, imo.
- paul george is actually so good. he didn't look himself at all the previous game and i think it was pretty clear he was still feeling the effects of being sick.
- we can see the underpinnings of a solid defense, even if the bench lineup lacks a big man. zubac was amazing tonight, and the extra wings were showing signs of the defensive wing things they're supposed to be doing.
all in all, there's some growth here and that's what matters the most, win or lose. but certainly we'll take the win
