I can't wait for us to play an actually bad team. We should be good enough to get out top guys extra rest against bad teams.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

I feel really fortunate that we have Siakam as a Raptors fan.

Just comparing him to Bosh and Vince in those early years, and Siakam is every bit as good as either of them, exceeding Bosh at this point in my opinion. But the big difference is that we as fans felt a sort of dread in those early years, trying to cater to prima donna's like Bosh or wrangle our awful organization (at the time) when it came to Vince and hoping they wouldn't leave, and doing what we could to keep them satisfied, failing both times.

With Siakam, you don't have any of that. We are getting our own home-grown superstar with none of the baggage associated with the previous 2 guys. No one is kept up at night thinking Siakam is going to demand a trade. He's not that kind of guy.

Pascal needs to be better in the forth quarter hitting his buckets. Spends way too many dribbles and energy trying to create in the 4th, and by this time he is already gassed. Has really improved as a playmaker and being patient.

Getting to the freethrow line often has been a trend for Pascal. Less AAaAaaaaaaYyyyyyYYYYyEEEeeee going on this season.

So long as he gets to at least 80% from the FT line, it will help the Raptors. Less of this going 1/2 on multiple trips to the line.

Less iso, more ball movement.

He can be even more effective with his isos by being a bit more direct. Still a bit too much dancing around with the ball before he makes his moves.

It's a very small and elite list. All these guys will end up top 20 players of all-time. Kawhi is borderline, but only because of his health.

Can Siakam reach this level? Probably not, very few very players in history ever reach this level. But can he be in the next group of players of really good #1s and/or elite #2s, he absolutely can and he's played at that level since the start of 2022.

That is the list of superstars. Can count them on one hand. Anyone else is a tier below.

Its not inefficient when he is scoring at this level. Every top scorer gets this leeway to play with the ball but there is reason for it. We need Pascal to be able to pick his opening and exploit the crap out of them. Part of that is hanging on to the ball and seeing how the defence reacts and looking for a half step. It becomes a waste if he converts at a poor rate.

This entire "he is too much iso" is crazy talk because we have seen TIME AND AGAIN how great passing Raptor trams are shut down in the playoffs.

The thread on the GB made me notice how some people don't realize just how dominant Siakam has been so far this season. He is averaging career highs across the board and has been one of the best in the league in most categories (14th in PPG, 18th in REB, 11th in AST while way back at 36th in TOV) on high usage (30.4%) with very good results (57 TS% and 2.7 AST/TO ratio) all the while being a positive impact defender. He is also getting doubled a lot (14.8 possessions per game and 28.3% of his possessions, which is top 10 by both measures) and he/the team is producing at an unreal level out of those doubles (1.38 PPP, which is #1 out of the top 20 most double-teamed players).

And before anyone comments on the free throw shooting, he has been very good since a rocky start; after starting 9/17 (53%), he has gone 36/45 (80%) in the last 5 games. Anywhere in the 75-80% range for the season would be good, especially if he continues to get to the line 8+ times most nights.

Siakam is an excellent player, but the early season sample size is too small to conclude anything other than a player is off to a good start.

Nurse plays his core heavy minutes, which can inflate per game stats.

Overall per 36 minutes (remember this is a small sample size of games) Siakam is 38th in points, 94th in rebounds and 45th in assists. Per 36 minutes for players who have appeared in 4 or more games he is 25th in points, 65th in rebounds and 28th in assists.

I suspect that stats for all players will normalize as the season progresses, that Siakam will be an All-Star and will have a good chance to make an All-NBA team. But I think it is good to give the season a bit to unfold before embracing early season stats as the new normal.
