Re: Calvin Ridley to Jags!
I mean, he's exactly what we need, but we really paid that much for the guy?
And he's not even gonna play a snap for us this year
Seems like a bit of a risky bet imo.

I mean, I suppose it only becomes a 2nd round pick if he's good, so if he's good enough it'll be worth it
But also, he's gonna want top receiver money after next year, so there's that to consider as well
Like I said, he's exactly what we need, but the fact we won't get him until next year when he's on an expiring contract makes me lukewarm about it
Probably takes WR out of the running with our top pick, but who knows with this org.

Re: Calvin Ridley to Jags!
Im not as high on Ridley as many are. I know he had a really good year a couple years back, but I think that had more to do with just a freakish high targets for him. I do think he is much closer to his stats from year 1 and 2 and his 4th year he was back on pace for those numbers, not his 3rd year numbers.
I think he is a good #2 WR, just dont think he is a game changer. But they need to get Trevor weapons and a 5th and conditional 4th is pretty much nothing. Really good trade for the Jags.

There's a darn good chance they just traded away a 5th rounder and a 3rd rounder for a 1-year rental of a #2 WR. And the rental is next year.
That's like an expensive pre-order for a PS5 game that's broken.

I mean it all depends on the incentives that push the 4th round pick to a 3rd. Is it a pro bowl? (hasnt made one of those yet), is it a 1k yard season? (only done that once). Ya if the incentives is "he plays 6 games" ya it gets a little more expensive. The 5th rounder to me doesnt matter. A team usually looks for special team players (not just kicker and punter, but expectations that guys they draft here become special team players). So that in a trade for a legit starter means nothing pretty much. So ya it goes from a really good deal if he doesnt hit his incentives, to a solid deal if he hits them and they arent as basic as "games played".

It's definitely one of the more interesting trades in recent NFL history. Actually, the deadline this year had more action than the last NBA deadline it felt like. It used to be that 2, maybe 3 or 4 guys would get traded. Maybe 1 of any consequence. I'm still getting caught up this go around.

Pleased to have him off the team and content with the return. He chose to sit out a season and was caught betting while he sat.
