Just showing the Warden some love.

Uber efficient, intangibles, shooting it great, playing his lock-down D. It seems like he could fight harder through screens, but he's pretty light/thin which keeps him quick.

More than that, he's a culture guy. Imagine him on the Warriors or the Celtics? He's here, on a great contract, and hopefully for his whole career.

Nothing not to like. Seems like a great guy...perfect attitude. Works hard. Smart player. No real weaknesses for his role. This last thing probably doesn't matter to many but isn't overly concerned with fashion or mainly wearing a lot of bling to flaunt status. I'm not a huge fan of excessive tattoos either. You can actually say this about all of our core for the most part.

Among my favorite Suns ever. Probably top 2 or 3. In time, maybe #1.

I kind of like the Marching Man. Though he is an Iron Man.

Credit to Monty for using Bridges in this almost Draymond Green role. His assists and FT rate are both up. Wish he'd take a few more shots though. Should easily average 18 a game.

Mikal is tearing. It. Up out there. Kudos to those who believed he had another level to his game. More rebounds, more points, and look at that efficiency. Yowzers! https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bridgmi01/gamelog/2023. The strength he added this summer is making those comparisons to Marion and Jaylen Brown seem a lot less ridiculous.

Short roll Mikal is gonna unlock his game so much. Dude is a great athlete and decision maker from that spot, and he can shoot those close-mid rangers he's been working on.

Mikal has been playing incredibly well. I've mentioned about my disappointment in his offensive production as recently as this week but what I neglected to take into account in terms of his offensive development is just all the other aspects of the offensive game like his passing, decision making and even his rebounding. All that while still playing his usual great defense.

Like RedIndian, I still want him to be a little more selfish with the shot attempts and just "force" 1-2 more shots especially when his efficiency right now is just off the charts. His .713TS% is third in the league behind Okongwu and Bojan (who's been absolutely ballin as well) but from a FG% perspective, he's 7th in the league with the rest of the top 10 being the non-shooting bigs like Zubac, Claxton and Gobert.

I know people want him to do more creation of his own offense, but so far, he absolutely has to shoot more 3s. He is a very good 3 pt shooter. Near league leading a couple years ago in % on good volume. But he hesitates or passes out so much. When he ooes hit it is smooth...high arc but straight in. Seems like he could have games where he got on fire from 3 but he usually only shoots 1-3 3 pointers, occasionally more.

I just want to see the ball in his hands more, period. Curls across the top of the key, handling it in the short roll, line drives from the wing/baseline - you name it. He should be more of a rock and less of the water in the current of this offense, so to speak. "Forcing" more shots may sound bad at first but it is absolutely the right way to describe it. He needs to take the initiative and set the tone on more plays for us in order for both him and us to elevate to the next level

With CP3 out of the lineup the last 2 weeks, Mikal Bridges is averaging:

18.3 points
6.4 boards
4.6 assists
1.6 steals
1.0 blocks
51/46/92 shooting

Plus, 7 straight games of double digit FGA. We challenged him to be more assertive, and he's been up to the task.

All really good signs for now and the post-CP3 era

Also worth noting during this stretch he's only averaged 1.3TO per game, while playing almost 40mpg lol

It's a bit unfortunate we are seeing Bridges bloom so much later in his career than what a lot of us have hoped for, but I'll take it now. :D

I feel Bridges has always had this in him, he's just such a team player and does what is asked of him. Now what is asked of him is a lot more offensively, and it's great to see so early in the season, that way come playoff time he'll be ready. Hopefully he doesn't pass up open 3s with the game on the line anymore

Still untouchable? Just checking with the consensus on this. Defensively he's fallen off and his albeitly better offense comes inconsistently and with not the best efficiency.

Thoughts?

Bridges great contract value starting to look like an overpay.

He’s an average defender in my opinion. Offense is hit or miss. You never know what you’re gonna get from him.

He works best standing in the corner waiting for someone to pass him the ball for a wide open 3. Or cutting to the basket off a guard penetration.

Don’t let him dribble, don’t let him make decisions.

He needs a lot of help on defense. We’re gonna have to start hedging his man off PnR because he’s doesn’t stay attached to his man coming off a pick, EVER!!!
-DA or whoever will need to hedge a little bit so he can recover.

-Month needs to make the proper defensive adjustments.

Paul can’t guard anyone and Bridges is a regular guy on defense.
