Simon's seems to get the best out of Nurk, Dame does not for some reason..

Blazers need to get THAT out of Simons and Nurkic when Lillard is running the show. If they can put that together and figure out how to make it cohesive then they’ll be on to something.

I’m really not too worried about this as a L. Blazers came close without easily their best player, while the Griz are basically at full strength.

I counted 2 pretty blatant carries on Morant hesitation moves that didn’t get called, and I wasn’t watching that closely. To be fair, I saw one on Simons too…

I get the sentiment but JJJ was not playing for them. Still, I liked the effort from the team and really looking forward to seeing what this team can be when Gary Payton starts playing.

Portland outside of Dame is a roster of guys who seem to want to get out and run. With Simons,
Sharpe, Walker, Johnson, Little, Brown, they are built for transition. Portland runs a lot of P&R
with Simons and Nurk and as we saw last spring, they work well together. Dame and CJ (when
he was here) were half court guys

A few things:
- Those turnovers were frustrating.
- Refs were poor.
- Nurkic has been really unimpressive defensively this year, using the eye test
- We need practice on finishing in transition
- Billups is allergic to challenging in anything but the last quarter.

The last point really bugs me. If you're confident that a call was wrong, challenge it for goodness sake. I understand the preference to have a challenge up your sleeve in the fourth quarter, but 2 points in any quarter is 2 points. Billups is obsessed with keeping a challenge in hand for the fourth quarter, and then ends up wasting it. The Keon Johnson goaltend happened right in front of Billups and he did nothing.

Hate losing but that comeback against a team as good as MEM while missing Dame was quite impressive. Alot of 'never day die' types on this roster.

Dillon's physicality was really bothering Ant for the majority of the game. Ant has to get less frazzled when guys play physical on him, he has the speed, he should be finding ways to get around Dillon and attack the rim rather than shy from contact and fadeaway. Can tell that Dame got into him at halftime, much better 2nd half.

Loved the energy Keon brought, think he was a lynchpin on the comeback. Love having a 4th-5th guard like him on the bench and think he can be a nice energy bench disruptor / defender as he develops.

Nurk had a nice game, but you can tell the injuries have sapped alot of his defensive mobility. Not much you can do about that when your his size, just life. Eubanks is alot more mobile on the perimeter on defense.

Winslow is not good enough to be our backup 2nd ballhandler should Dame or Ant miss time. I think Keon is the best bet to take that emergency role b/c GP2 has never developed PG skills. Hart was way, way off tonight. He plays average and we win IMO.

Sharpe was a ghost but he is a kid so I wont read much into it. Probably was surprised by the energy and physicality of MEM, his first game in this type of atmosphere.

We are going to be in for a rude awakening if that 7M AV deal we gave Nas was with intention of him replacing whomever we allow to walk between Hart and Grant. He isnt near their caliber. Should be a 8-9th man at his current skill level.

Fun 4th. Shame they didn't pull off the upset, but we all knew going into the season that this team would go as far as Dame carried them. Grizzlies are a likeable team. Good for them.

I wasn't able to comment until now. Such a winnable game. I don't think I've seen so many travel calls in one game, particularly against one player (Grant). Every time the Blazers made a run, Memphis answered. What is it about Dillon's Brooke's face that makes me just wanna punch him.
