Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
Having Tucker and Harris in the corner, Maxey pulling his defender outside the three point line and running a Harden, Melton P&R was nice. Our best version of the team is certainly with Embiid, but he will need to learn to be a facilitator (through spotting up, setting hard screens, rolls and beating mismatches) in our offense instead of the main cog.
No more ISOs against a center as our first option please.

Yes! If you're a center in the NBA and you're not Jokic, you have to play like this. Embiid needs to lower his ego.

6 minutes for Paul Reed in a game where I counted at least THREE times the Wizards player just strode from the arc into the paint and laid the ball in without a SINGLE Sixers defender making any effort to stop them.
Indefensible.

Sixers aren't going anywhere unless they fire Doc and replace him with D'Antoni & make a Tobias trade for a 3&D wing. And even then it's unlikely they make the finals.
Daryl Morey deserves more blame than he's gotten. I guess that's why he's using Doc as a shield. I was pounding the table for a Haliburton & picks trade for Simmons.

Morey has the power to fire Doc, so he gets as much blame as Doc.

Doc was not coaching the Rockets when they went with that microball line-up.
Maybe its Morey’s plan to play midgets and ask them to switch on defense, run heavy iso and jack up 3s on the other end

Tobias is a 3 and D wing at this point.

To me, of all the off season moves Morey made that have gotten criticized, it is the non-move of keeping Glenn that will turn out to be the fatal flaw this season. Many of us saw it then, and it's playing out right before our eyes. This may or may not be a championship roster, but as long as this coach remains it is guaranteed to fall short the same way as the last couple of years.
Making a coaching change along with 1-2 smart deadline moves could revive championship hopes here, but 'staying the course' ensures another 'been there done that' result.

Not if ownership tells him he can't

Yeah, obviously is Morey's vendetta against Reed, not doc.
It's not like this same issues were what got him fired from the Clippers (playing favorites, not adjusting, keeping players in the doghouse, etc), just a coincidence.

Doc played big and small for the clips and for his celts squad.
He played Zubac at C as default. But when Kawhi is on the bench and need scoring, that’s when he resorted to Harrell. Then when it still isn’t clicking, then he went further and inserted Lou Will.
Doc would start shamet (+7.8 NetRtg) then have deathball units of replacing shamet with Lou Will (+25 NetRtg) or the Harrell-J Green frontcourt (+22 NetRtg) https://www.nba.com/stats/team/1610612746/lineups-advanced?SeasonType=Playoffs&Season=2019-20
Same thing with the Celtics. When he would play Perkins-KG, KG-Brown and KG-Posey.

On the other hand, playing midgets have always been the brand of Morey’s basketball. If you watched 2019-2020 season, we play more like the Rox than the Clips. Clips is more versatile and adjusts depending on situation (is opponent playing big? Do we need more defense? Do we need more offense?) while on the other hand.. the Rox (microball full 48)
Ive said it before how much i hate microball and i saw my team playing that brand of gimmick last game against the wizards. We’re like one of those Don Nelson science lab squads

He played Zubac at C as default?
lol, sorry, i couldn't keep reading after that.
The Clippers front office itself leaked that one of the reasons for doc getting fired was not playing Zubac enough minutes and that he was pushed several times to reduce Harrell minutes for him, to the point this was discussed with the players
Hell, JaMychal Green was getting more minutes than Zubac

Last night's second half seemed egregious. In spite of getting crushed in the paint 68-38, Doc refused to put in a player who can defend and protect the rim, and who had a good run in the first half. (Why this grudge? Did Reed kill Doc's cat or something?) That game was winnable and he gave it away.

A bigger problem than the big rotation is the minutes he's playing Harden and now Maxey. The dude is allocating minutes like he knows he's on the precipice. He must be fired before ruins the season before it begins by running Harden and surely Embiid's health by overuse.

Don't forget Tucker's minutes have been absolutely bat(expletive) crazy.

I assume you meant ruined? So yeah, about Harden's health...

I don't follow media much, has any of the Sixers beat writers or other journalists written a piece openly criticizing Rivers? Or are they all still pretending the emperor is not naked?

We were without our two best players, but that was a winnable game. Had the lead and momentum at home going into the 4th and we squandered it in spectacular fashion.
We missed shots and forced some senseless turnovers, but you can't ignore Doc's body of work as the biggest collapse artist coach in league history. This guy isn't getting through any championship finish lines ever again and unfortunately, we're just wasting our time until we make that change.

I’m still amazed at Paul Reeds defensive numbers last night in his limited minutes. It seems like the Knicks had to feel uneasy whenever passing or dribbling around him. Can’t say the same about Harrell.

When I looked it up last night, Reed had as many stocks in that game as Harrell has had all season. Reed is obviously raw but that’s something that a good coach should be able to help with. Instead he gets no consistent play time to learn.
