The fact that Gallo can still walk can only help his trade value.

Am I the only one holding out for a late season Gallo return??? 8-)

I have no interest in this guy at 5% mobility. Enjoy the $20M and memories of your press conference, I hope we’re able to trade you as salary filler.

I can certainly understand this sentiment but the way he spoke yesterday; with how he brought over his Dad to help him with the rehab. He still fels very much a part of the team despite never having played a single minute for the team yet. They plan to eventually bring him on road trips as well to stay connected to the team and sit with the team at games. Considering his game was never built on elite athleticism or mobility, I don't know that this injury affects any of the parts of his game that drew the Celtics to sign him (shooting, playmaking). I have a really difficult time believing Brad trades him at any point in this season.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

I feel pretty confident that he will make this happen.

I think people really want to be a part of this team right now, and that sometimes helps with healing times.

I won't be too sad if he helps bring in a good player, but if he can come back and produce late season in the front court that's a big bonus.

Other piece is they only have one real exception to use next year to improve, their tax MLE. And they will prob want to use part of it to sign JD Davison and if they make their second round pick this year, that eats another little bit into it as well. So if he hypothetically comes back late this year and next and contributes a bit it's a "free" contributor that they don't have to acquire somewhere else with increasingly limited flexibility to get those guys.

you make good points; I have to confess I am biased against Gallo after not liking him ever, really. Years ago I was posting #neverGallo, and I wish we hadn't signed him, but I shouldn't let that cloud any hope that they can ever get anything out of him -- maybe they can, whether in a trade to help someone tank in the season of WembanyamaMania, or possibly on the court.

Last night on the broadcast Ian Eagle said Gallo is out for the year.

That doesn't seem to be accurate though.

This is the latest report I am seeing on his injury/timeline:

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/danilo-gallinari-injury-timeline-return-date-celtics/wgwa3mxzmnninuitjlsw2sh6

TLDR: He may be out for the year but also a chance he comes back "late season". The Celtics have not released an official timeline and will release more updates as they become available.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It's be lame if we all agreed about everything :)

Range of return for basketball players is 8-12 months with average around 9.8 months. Return for playoffs unlikely but not impossible.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

My guess is he won’t play a single minute in his Celtics career. He will be used in a trade

Seems like he is doing pretty good with his rehab. He is able to do some good exercises, putting his knee through some rigorous stuff - and all the while, he doesn't have any brace on the knee or anything.

*crosses fingers*

Good progress, that he's able to put all his weight on that left leg, after surgery on the left knee only a month and a half ago..

15 mins a game off the bench in the playoffs is all we need from him.

do we have any information if he will be able to come back during the playoffs? just the spacing with him and hausser , williams ( and Brogdon playmaking) would be deadly

Dream scenario would be getting 10 games out of him before the playoffs

TBH, I'd rather see if we can use his salary as a filler and get a legit upgrade at center some how..
