I think it's great for people like Hauser, their job is to just shoot, I'm not convinced it's good for people who will do more. I will say it's better than riding the bench. I think the guys who make it out were good enough already, they just needed to refine their training, put in more work, and mature like any young guys coming to the big stage.
I'll enjoy it because it's Celts 2ways but I'm find myself ignoring the game when they aren't in. I don't want to see Valentine year 10. That one guy Shayok was out there dishing and scoring like it was too easy, he seems promising, but that's so many guys in the GLeague that never make it out.
GL just leaves me confused, guys that look amazing and ready don't make 15th man on any roster. I don't know how much more dominant Kaben can be and still not be beyond a two-way. I'm not even talking about for us, FOR ANY TEAM?! Wild.
I want JD out of there as soon as next season. We are too stacked for it this season, and maybe next season, but we need to find away to make him at least 15th!
To me, G-League used for development is a tough needle to thread. For aspiring stretchy big men I think if done right, can propel them into a reserve role, but you have to have a focus on challenging them to work through struggles and risk losing and losing chemistry with the rest of the roster. I was pretty annoyed that they abandoned Jordan Mickey's 3pt shooting focus. Now that very well could have been a matter of his work ethic, attitude, or stubbornness (in theory), but his attempts dropped from where they had started and you knew he was never going to be able to live in the paint nor handle the ball.
I almost wonder if going to an Ice-Cube Big3 model would be a better platform for individual skill development and combined with the relaxed time with the NBA club guidelines started during Covid, would better blend integration with system concepts into development.
