“…He has a proven ability to get the best out of our players, hold them accountable and play a cohesive, team-first style of basketball.

When has he proven this??

The offense is still run everything through KD and iso ball in the 4th Q. Yes, the team has played harder but it's been 3 games and teams always have that coached just got fired glow up.

No Ime is fine but how do we not even TRY to speak to other potential candidates.

Sean Marks needs to go.

He should have been a coach in the first place before Nash unfairly got the job.

IDk..... years ago I would've been more fine with Vaughn seeing he went thru the channels and I thought he would take us over to the next level with the high level talent additions at that time....

but seeing the direction of the Nash led times... i can't help but wonder if he had a significant say and we still suck or he didn't have much say and literally watched it all burn down

For me Quinn Snyder would've been ideal if i want a damn coach to coach a team again... however any dealings with Ainge is off the table for me... f that guy.

so what other options were out there?

I did like Borego but Vaughn should still be over him...

what other options were there for the right now.

Aside from a scandal embroiled Udoka, what proven head coach worth his salt would step into this much uncertainty? Coaches will wait until the off-season to see what this team looks like. What did we get for Kevin? Is Simmons healthy and showing anything? Who is the GM (if Marks gets canned (hopefully not), a new GM would want to pick the coach)?

I will say this. IF we were truly backed down from hiring Udoka, then the league should suspend Udoka or make an official statement about acquiring him is off the table for any team in the league until something comes from the investigation.

I have the feeling that's what this means. I'm not mad at it.

Maybe there's a slim chance that KD pushed for Vaughn. He was playing well before but his energy has been totally different after Nash left.

If we rebuild we rebuild.... we gambled and lost, simple as that(a little more complicated, like hijacked or sabotaged)

hope by the end of the season that both Houston and Philly are picking at the top of the draft lottery....us too lol

On the one hand, the report was the players were very happy with Vaughn and now the report is coming out from Scoop that a Nets source told Bally Sports they couldn't afford to bring in Ime(due to his situation). It's sounding more and more like the media/league manipulated this whole **** and Nets are now letting outsiders run the team. Pathetic. May the NBA RIP.

Sean Marks needs to go.

Agreed 100%.

When I saw the headline on ESPN.com, I was so pissed.

Put aside the Udoka situation. Nash was fired only 3 games ago and Vaughn was named interim coach. We have the rest of the season and offseason to determine whether he's the best fit for this team.

But no...2 wins against mediocre teams and a close loss against a good team and that was all that the Nets needed to determine that Vaughn is the best possible candidate for this team for at least the next two seasons? What was the rush?

It's a baffling decision that (imo) clearly indicates that management didn't properly think through who would replace Nash when he was fired.

Kyrie is such a distraction it overshadows the worst front office(Owner/GM/Coach) in the history of sports. A team that could’ve been on par with the 17 Warriors fumbled.
Like a 30 for 30 would be amazing. No one ever seen such consecutive terrible decisions from a front office.
We had Durant/Harden/Kyrie.
MDA coming off a system that challenged the dynasty of the era.
A Spencer trade that could’ve netted anything from a multiple role players to a fringe star(Joe/Spencer even was rumored for Simmons).
Two late picks.
No one could mess that up…unless you go one way super small. Not get a return for you best asset. Not use the system that your star guard use.

Allow me to play devils advocate.....

Was Nash actually fired? Or did he quit?.....I ask that because if he quit that would give Marks an out on not having a replacement.

Did the other teams owners get in Joe Tsai head? Although we are not certain of what Ime did or did not do , or should I say "all" he did. Were the other owners uncomfortable seeing a suspended coach walking away without a scratch? Even if the suspension did not come from the league, should another team just be able to poach someone who did another team wrong?

KD never said anything about firing Jacque or anything along the lines of Nash and his staff. So maybe he is okay with JV as coach. Although at this point I am way past being concerned with KD and Kyrie. I believe most of us were fans way before they got here and will be long after they are gone.

It's pretty obvious that the Nets wanted Udoka but didn't have the stomach for more negative press after the Kyrie situation. Or the league didn't want any more negative press.

There's a bunch of people downplaying everything who think trying to win should be above everything. This past year+ is maybe the most disfunction any team has faced in NBA history. I wish that was an exaggeration. I don't blame the Nets for laying low.

Only non-Nets fans should want a 30 for 30. Being reminded of and actively reliving everything would probably have me rage quit out of following this team anymore. :nonono:
