After two G-league games, he’s found his way into the Spurs rotation. Of course its the Spurs, who are rebuilding. Anyway, good luck to the big fellow. With his build and athleticism, I think he’s got potential.

Even if we have Wilt Chamberlain here, he’d still be back-up to Embiid. Probably would have waived him also.

With a different coach, I think Reed/Bassey would be elite bench bigs right now. Problem is that we have a coach incapable of giving them the time & attention needed to develop.

That coach is still miles better than Brett though.

“Would you call Pop ‘dumb’ for not playing Bassey?”

-Doc, probably.

Somebody has to be held accountable for letting Bassey walk. Dude had more rebounds in 18 minutes than our entire team besides Joel usually has.

Embiid/Reed
Bassey/Tucker

Would have made so much sense given time to work together. Sigh

So easy to find another Bassey.
So hard to find playing time for Bassey

Sure Bassey can play defense and rebound, but can he shoot 3s so Embiid can get 30ppg tho..

Being able to play alongside Embiid is a different conversation, but there's no reason why Bassey couldn't have been our "10-15 backup when Embiid plays and 25-30 mpg starter when Embiid sits" big over the last two seasons.

Both are holes. Bigger hole was a frontcourt player who can play with embiid. Back-up big is easy. We had Drum and D12 the other year. Even Trez is playable if you pair him with Reed.

Thats the problem with this squad. They focus on things that dont solve the problem.

Why did we sign Tucker? Because he was a “dog”?

We had rebounding and interior defense problem last season

I wish we would have kept him instead of signing Trez to force Doc's hand in terms of playing a development defensive backup 5 that actually might be playoff capable. I understand them being more comfortable having a vet in the mix behind such an injury prone star. And in theory, if used properly, Trez maybe should have more regular season value to the team as an offensive option off the bench... But Doc can't be trusted to use him properly. And after that ridiculously bad outing from Paul Reed the other night we're probably about to get a way to large dose of Trez.

I don't give a **** about lineup data from a 6 minute stretch.

I also don't think Harrell-Niang should play together unless you really need some scoring due to the defensive limitations of having those two on the floor together.

But it worked, until proven otherwise. And this is both on eyetest and on data.

harrell and reed can both step out and both can also rotate to the paint for protecting the rim or trying to get into position for a charging call.

Im not saying Harrell is better than Bassey. Im just saying that Harrell is playable if used right. And the answer to every problem we have right now is in the roster, and its just being open to make changes on our rotation

Paul Reed is shooting 43.6% from three in 24 career G-League games. Not small volume either. He's 41 for 94.

Yet he's scared to death to take a three in an NBA game because Dr. Glenn won't let him.

Reed can be the answer to all our problems, if we had a coach who believed in him.

He definitely looks extremely tentative offensively, which I'm perfectly fine with blaming Doc for.

Dude really has to figure out how to defend without fouling though. His foul rate is putting Dwight's to shame right now. Part of it is him getting zero respect from refs, but I'm not sure how big of a percentage of it I'd put on that.

If im Paul Reed i’ll ask for a trade

Or atleast sabotage my performance until they waive me like Bassey

Until you have Embiid, your career will die as a big. Even if you are good, your +/- will be bad as a back-up to Biid
