Is Brooklyn Back?

Post#1 » by HotRocks34 » Sat Nov 12, 2022 11:30 pm

After a disappointing 1-5 start to the season, the Nets look rejuvenated under new head coach Jacque Vaughn.

Following today's win against the Clippers, Brooklyn is now 4-1 in it's last 5 games under Vaughn.

The x-factors are Kyrie, of course; when and how TJ Warren can fit into things as he regains health; and how Ben Simmons can potentially expand his role as he builds chemistry with the squad and gets his own health back in order.

I don't follow Brooklyn on a game-to-game basis but I'm impressed with the recent upsurge. They have talent, and Vaughn seems to have gotten players focused and playing hard.

If the Nets beat the Lakers tomorrow, they would be 7-7.

What do you think?

On paper sure, in a perfect world I think they are on course to become a better team.

In reality? It's the Nets. Kyrie gonna Kyrie, Joe Tsai gonna Joe Tsai, and KD will eventually go down for a stretch. It's the super-treadmill.

They tuned Nash out, and while it's fun to blame it on Kyrie, Durant calling for his firing meant it was never gonna work out. Theyre playing hard for Vaughn and he's done very simple things that have had huge effects, number 1 being benching and limiting Ben Simmons minutes. If a players not good, dont play them a lot.

Strong playoff team? Fringe contender?

Just better than the total disaster they looked like at the start of the season.

They aren't a contender, nor are they a strong playoff team. So no.

Nets brass frantically praying that Irving insults another ethnic group in the next few days.

Kyrie is a huge addition by subs traction. He is a toxic mentally unstable character who’s antics sucks the life out of his teammates. Also benching the now scrub role player in Ben Simmons was a good move as well. He is just a net negative as a starter it also allows Durant to be the main point forward . Harris instead of Simmons as a starter opend the floor for KD

Brooklyn is back to being the low playoff seed type team they had with Jarett Allen, D'Angelo Russell and Spencer Dinwiddie.

From what I've read, Vaughn has used Durant much more as the focus. And it's working.

Getting Curry back (think he was injured for a bit) is big. He torched the Clippers today.

I like Nash, but whether he doesn't coach well and/or the team wasn't listening to him, Vaughn seems to have figured some things out fast.

The next step for Vaughn is working in Kyrie when he inevitably returns.

As I think Bisme said in the game thread, Brooklyn is playing some serious defense right now. That's always seemed a weak spot for them in the Big Three era.

Brooklyn had a rough schedule to start the year while trying to reintegrate SImmons back into game shape along with a miss use of roster.

They will be even better when Kyrie returns to action.

There is no guarantee that Kyrie will respect or work with Vaughn. He clashed withBrad Stevens before Nash plus he believes he dosent need a coach. The guy is a toxic nutcase

Ben Simmons with reduced playing time from the bench was a fantastic move for sure, he was still -1 in a 15pts win, Nets would be even better with Ben playing 0 minutes

Probably hoping it's the Chinese Kyrie goes after next. Then the NBA could step in for that suspension and keep him on ice
