Here we go again with the three-point chucking. This team is still a mess and I have zero confidence in Lue to get it fixed. He still refuses to even do something as obvious as benching Reggie.

Can't wait for the new arena. I never look forward to watching these early games. They're usually always terrible basketball played by the Clippers

That’s a tough one to lose and it was still close.

This wasn't one of those usual early afternoon losses. This game would have been winnable if we had an actual coach instead of Lue. I'm so sick of the three-guard lineup. It's like we never fired Doc. Mindblowing that somehow RoCo is the one who's out of the rotation instead of Reggie.

It’s a crime to have Covington on the team with two consecutive DNP- coaches decision. The stay ready you’re not in the rotation right now is a weird one.

It's favoritism. Lue can't bring himself to bench his beloved Reggie no matter how awful he plays, so instead RoCo collects dust on the bench.

I have been saying RoCo should be ahead of Batum in the rotation. They both play similar positions. RoCo is more than capable of playing small ball center. Batum has been awful this season.

If PG doesn't have it going the Clippers are cooked it seems.
Also, Batum is looking washed. Sorry to say. Nice guy to have on the team I guess but he should be playing limited minutes at this point.

Yes, but that's the politics of respect on a veteran team. Batum could have re-signed elsewhere and you have to return the loyalty. You don't just dump him 10 games in. RoCo understands. His minutes will come. He might not even be back in game shape yet and the game was tight almost the whole way. Hell, Batum only got 18 minutes anyway.
Powell is getting a full shot at the moment because Kawhi's absence has left a hole in the scoring. Ty deserves credit for sticking with him instead of panicking and throwing those minutes at the kids. He's put up 17 ppg over the last 3 games and we've still won 5 of the last 7.
Yes, I know--it's hard to remember back that far.

Exactly. And Powell's out there because he can get his own shot--Luke and T-Mann can't. They need to be wide open. [Senior can't get his own shot either but as you saw today he CAN hit the contested 3, and saved our bacon a number of times.]

I think we're also going with a biased sample, because the same thing is said about Seth in that he doesn't shoot as much as one would want, but today, he did shoot it a good amount
In general, both of them shoot about the same amount per possession. The Clippers are currently in an odd position where there are a lot of mouths to feed offensively, but not a lot of guys are being efficient enough to actually get the amount of shots they are taking.

Re: GAME #13: NETS @ CLIPPERS—SATURDAY 11/12 1 PM [NOTE TIME]
Reggie needs a break from being a starter and staple in the rotation. He's not a good enough player that one has to force themselves to stick with him, no one will criticize you for sitting Reggie Jackson
Yes it will be painful for him, but it's just not working even with the wins. Look at the previous 6 games, the team went 5-1, Reggie gave the team 11/1/4 and 2 turnovers in 30 mpg on 41/23/100 shooting, TS% of 50.5%. His TS% was 50% or under in 4/6 games. Did he shoot well vs Cleveland and LAL? Sure, but consistency is the game. A 12 game poor shooting stretch is not a big deal, the issue for me is that Reggie is also just not that good at other things where one rides it out with him until the end. There's nothing special about Reggie to stick with him when he's not getting it done consistently. Zero factor on the glass, not any sort of special playmaker, not one of those guys whose great at ball protection, nothing special on defense, it's okay to just let him sit more often.
Wall should move into the starting lineup even though he has his own efficiency issues, he's performing better than Reggie. Powell needs minutes because the team needs another efficient scoring guard who can create to help George out (Wall is not efficient with his scoring so far). Powell has shown historical efficiency, and he is on the up with that (came into this game shooting 55/43 his last 5).
Start: Wall/Kennard/George/Morris/Zubac
Main Reserves: Powell/(Mann or Reggie)/Batum/Roco

Mostly true--they are comparable per 100 possessions: Seth shoots a little more, gets to the line a little more, has more assists.
Luke's assisted baskets are considerably higher--.563/ two-pt and .882 three-pt vs Curry's .418/.809, meaning that Seth creates his own scoring opportunities much better, which is germane here.

More of Wall's numbers are against second units. And he is probably topped out for now at the ~24 minutes he's been playing all year and probably not ready for back-to-backs either. He will get his minutes and is not losing any to Reggie or anyone else. No reason to pit one Clipper against another.
Today, Wall entered the game at 6:21, was called for traveling, got a technical, was blocked at the rim, got an assist, was blocked at the rim again, hit a 3 and ended up playing more than half of the 1st quarter.
There is no point in musical chairs here. The cure is continuity and familiarity, not yo-yoing lineups. At least that's Ty's philosophy, and he's the boss.
