Worst free agent signing of the off-season. No defense for Nico here. He messed up, period. I would rather have literally anyone else that signed for the TMLE (heck even most on the vet min) over McGee.

Whiteside played real minutes on the Jazz and could've been had for the vet min, Whiteside, unlike McGee is a proven shotblocker and rebounder, but this was who Kidd asked for.

Look at how many rings Whiteside has and then look at how many McGee has. McGee is a proven winner. He's playing poorly so far but it was the right move for a team looking to make the final step

He was a 10MPG backup player on one of the strongest in history, and then the bubble champion.

Yup, and on the Lakers he never even played a min in the finals. And on whopping finals average of 5 pts, 2 rebounds for those two GSW runs.

If we wanted a 3 time champ to tell stories and not play, might as well have signed Patrick McCaw. At least it wouldn't have been for 3 years and almost the full TMLE.

What's worse is that we have signed him for 3 years fully guaranteed contract, and McGee will be 37-38 in the last year of the contract.

I'm not sure if McGee is truefully better than Moses Brown.

There's a lot of players that would absolutely destroy a winning team culture. Whiteside is one of them. The fact that McGee has been on multiple championship level teams and has never damaged their chemistry or locker rooms, while providing solid bench minutes is a credit to himself. There are players that might be better in a vacuum who I would not trust to implode those teams McGee has been on, Whiteside included

You're not wrong but the difference is Whiteside would have been signed for the vet minimum and easily cut if he caused trouble. McGee has been abysmal but the main fuss is about McGee's 3 year fully guaranteed TMLE contract and how that asset could have been much better spent. Instead he's just a wasted roster spot just like a handful of the bench is. But hey, team chemistry and culture right?
