Past two weeks, D has made great second half adjustments. Demeco may be making a bid for that HC gig after all. Not sure what's gonna happen when we play a team that can really spread us out, though.

yeah, I gave them a lot of crap tonight but after that opening possession the D was pretty solid. Aiyuk's fumble & the blocked punt putting them on a short fields didn't help them either.
Miami is easily the scariest offense remaining on the schedule. Tampa has potential to be scary, although they have been underwhelming so far this season. The defense still struggles with the mobile QB's, and still got Kyler twice left and the divisional games are always tough.

Kyle is driving me nuts with his conservative play. Too many friends from inside the 10. And the second to last drive they were selling out 100% to stop the run. So we run and they stop us every time. Won't work against a playoff team.

Solid win just would've liked to see the team look sharper coming off a bye.
Defense rebounded nicely after that first drive but hard to get excited when Chargers were missing key guys on offense.
Same could be said about the Chargers defense who were banged up going into the game and got banged up throughout the game.
Solid game by Jimmy and pretty much what I consider a baseline game for him. Makes a handful of good plays, a great play here and there, and limits the bad play. Wasn't a masterclass in Quarterbacking but more than good enough to get the win.
Both CMC and Elijah ran hard and frequently gained extra yards by sheer willpower alone. CMC is obviously the talent but Elijah is more than capable of spelling CMC. Which is great because you don't want either one to get worn down or injured with too many touches and good to see Shanahan had a pretty healthy rotation between the two.
Great that we didn't let another winnable game slip by and we need to stack those wins because the Seahawk's schedule isn't all that difficult from here on out and given the slog the NFC wildcard is fixing to be winning the NFC West is the best thing path for the team.

Missed the second half.
How did they pitch a shutout in the second half, looked like Chargers were moving it easily.

Kept up their dominant play against the run. Got pretty good pressure on Herbert, including with some well-timed blitzes on crucial downs. To be fair, there were several plays throughout the game where Herbert missed an open guy or an open guy flat-out dropped it that very well could have tipped the balance in this one. A false start by the Chargers deep in the red zone helped us hold them to a FG when it felt almost like a done deal that they would punch it in.

Re: Week 10: Chargers @ 49ers
Overall, I'm not coming away from this one with a great feeling. The D stepped up, but our coverage is a problem that isn't likely to get better now that Verrett definitely isn't returning.
And the offense remains inconsistent. So much talent, but between the playcalling and the execution, it feels like we aren't getting anywhere near the most out of that unit. This Chargers team was banged up on both sides of the ball, but we still let them hang in there with some pretty big blunders on offense. Aiyuk had a solid game as a receiver, but his fumble and his drop (albeit on a somewhat inaccurate pass) were potentially difference-making plays in a bad sense. We've got to get Deebo and Kittle more than three catches combined.
I thought the OL struggled in this one. The interior OL was allowing consistent penetration up the middle in the run game, which is a bad sign as the Chargers' run D is awful and they were thin at DL. McGlinchey was pretty consistently overwhelmed in pass blocking yet again. Jimmy played alright, and didn't put the ball in danger (did he actually throw the ball away in this one???), but he missed high several times and was bailed out by Aiyuk going high to bring in a dangerous pass. Mitchell had a nice game. CMC's numbers in the running game don't seem to reflect the performance, as he was repeatedly hit in the backfield but was able to shake free for a yard or two.
Lots of improvement necessary if we're going to make a legit run this year. The offense especially needs to step up, as I can't see this defense shutting out the top teams. Too thin at CB yet again....

That was way more difficult than I felt it had to be, considering how the Chargers' roster was so banged up. The defense stepped up in the second half, to be sure. But the offense feels like it is playing well below its actual capability. Mitchell was running really well and that was nice to see. The offense needs to start taking more shots and opening up the game more.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS
