I disagree. As a coach, you should always be looking for making adjustments.
There were many to be made last night on both offense and defense.
Having a bad roster is not an excuse to not do your job as a coach.

As I said, he will get the blame. I think he's doing just fine with this roster. We might not have the 2 wins we have without his in game decisions.

You’re right. He’ll be the first to be blamed. That’s unfortunate. A rookie head coach should have more time. But this is the Lakers. With AD, LBJ and Russ, and one of the most expensive rosters in the league.

I think if he shows more strategy, more adjustments, and a few more wins, they won’t fire him.

I haven’t seen much of his signature on this team. They began the year as a defensive minded club, which I loved but that seems to have fallen off the face of the earth.

Now, with 12 games in, and two 5 game losing streaks already , the coach will be the one on the hot seat. I don’t think it would be fair for Russ to shoulder the blame like he did last year (deservedly so).

You're making my point. He's a defensive coach... we suck at defense. So, if he could build a resume as a defensive coach and we suck at it.... it's not because he doesn't know what he's doing... right? It's on the players.

Blaming the coach of one of the highest paid teams with a history of the Lakers is not the right focus in my opinion. If you're among the highest paid players then you shouldn't have to have a defensive minded coach to play defense.... if your front office assembled the right players.

The coach will get the heat. Bron and his hangers-on are the ones that have changed how we look at FA and team assembly. They want credit if it works but none of the Blame. Kinda like LeBron himself.

Your second sentence declaring “He’s a Defensive Coach”…how do we know this is true? Because he said he’ll focus on defense during his press conference? Rob got rid of all the poor defenders/Shooters last year, he would have to be stupid not to consult Ham about who to acquire this summer and yet they’ve been awful defending the past 6 games or so and it’s not he’s playing a poor defender like Ryan for 30 minutes.

We differ is much but the idea that individuals make a defense is the one I'll address here. Defense is not an individual aspect of basketball. A group of so called "poor defenders" can play very good team defense. BTW... there is only team defense. The game is set up in a way that the offense will eventually win any individual match up and the only way to thwart it is with additional defenders.

Stupid "advanced stats" for defense aside, the largest difference a coach can make is installing team defense and discipline. Offensive schemes are less impactful.

In the end, this was about Ham getting the ax to cover the FO's stupidity. That happens all the time in sports and if Ham is fired it's happening here. If the team isn't listening to him or not executing shouldn't that be on the one getting paid 95% of the money rather on a coach 12 games in?

There was like 90% of fans here who crowned Vogel as a defensive wizard after this team were top 5 in DRTG 2 straight seasons. I said he relied heavily on several fundamentaly sound defenders and benching bad ones, not a few rolled their eyes. Rob thought Frank’s greatness will help mask the defensive weaknesses of the shooters he signed and look what happened.
Having said that, this team is very different from last year. A great coach would spend hours studying tapes, opposing teams tendencies, analyzing matchups; creating schemes and making key game time adjustments etc.
