Is it even possible to be a worse rebounder than PJ Tucker? It's gonna be a problem if literally every team outrebounds us and I don't see how this will change.

All time great game by Joel. That kind of defense and offensive output from a big is unreal.

I really want to complain about the backup center situation. Many used the struggles in Brooklyn vs Boston.... to why not sign Andre Drummond. The absolute albatross that occurs when Joel leaves the game wasn't happening with him. Sometimes Trez is good, but still. I see the logistics of being able to play Paul Reed next to Joel for rebounding, but he can't play smart enough to start. He'd foul out in the first quarter with 3 turnovers amongst other flaws. But whatever.

Maxey also needs to focus less on these crazy contested floaters and layups.... And trust his pull up mid range game more. Come off a screen and pull up. They're playing him for the drive.

Start Melton over PJ

Maxey is shooting over 40% from 3 on 7 attempts, he's been amazing as a shooter.

His midrange and finishing around the rim tho has been suspect (47.2%) and is dragging his overall efficiency down which would be elite with better shot selection.

A lot of that is that the ball get stagnant and he has to go ISO but i think he also needs to move more off ball

What a historic performance. Proud of Joel for this effort. Imagine if he had a triple double with that stat line. Crazy!

What I liked the most is I noticed this game was how much more assertive he was when establishing his position in the post while wrestling with their defenders. Yes, Markannen is probably not the biggest body, but still a lot of effort by Jo to post up throughout the game. Like to see more of that this season.

In a recent game against one of our main rivals, the Milwaukee Bucks:

Bassey became just the second player in NBA history to have 14 rebounds, four blocks, and four assists in less than 20 minutes, and the first to do it off the bench.

Of course now it is the time to move on, but I am wondering how Morey sleeps at night. Especially since one of the legit best available options right now, in terms of how much would it cost to get another backup center of comparable ability and fit, would be to try and get Bassey back lol.

I think we’ve gotta demote Tucker to a smaller role. We should give a lot of minutes to a Maxey/Melton/Tisse/Tobias/Embiid lineup with Harden out. If I’m reading the data right, we’ve played that lineup exactly 0 minutes together and it’s probably our best defensive lineup in theory.

It's really absurd that Bassey didn't get enough minutes here to see if he was legit. I'd put that first on Doc, but also on Morey for not firing Doc. And also on Morey for releasing Bassey.

We're in the same situation with Paul Reed. He's making plenty of mistakes, but he still hasn't had enough minutes for us to say whether or not he can play his way through them. We could also end up bailing on Reed with not enough data, and seeing him flourish somewhere else.

I'm in full agreement that PJ Tucker needs a timeout. We're 14 games into the season, I have personally watched 10 games thus far and he hasn't done a damn thing in any of the games that I have watched. His defense isn't even what it used to be and he hasn't been hitting his threes, so the two main things that keep him in the NBA just haven't been there. I keep telling myself that he'll prove his worth come playoff time so that's what I'll hold out for I guess. I think we're in big trouble at the small forward position unless House suddenly steps up or Thybulle magically starts to hit his threes. With all the complaining about Tucker and the small forward position, I do think we're going to hit a nice run here with Embiid if he can stay healthy. We're going to come out of this just fine and I think by the time January rolls around, we'll be sitting towards the top of the east with a nice record.

I thought Shake was magnificent on offense last night. Only 2 assists, but made the right passes almost every time as the PG. He looks every bit as slow on defense in real life as he does on TV, though.

He still looks awful to me mainly as a result of his lack of athleticism. He is giving much more effort though so maybe the advanced metrics are catching that.
