Embiid would be available but I would want a good package including a young star type.

I could give you your man Khris Middleton and young star DPOY Marcus Smart.

Trade between myself and WeekapaugGroove of Evan Mobley and my 2023 1st for Joel Embiid and his 3rd round pick.
I sacrifice by 8th keeper, but I don't really have a solid one anyway, so I decided to forgo that player to get Embiid.

Yeah I dont think I could beat that reasonably. I have a lot of good young players but no prospects as good as Mobley.

I really like Mobley. And he's supposed to be a great dynasty player, but I just couldn't wait to see him blossom with all the pieces around him like Mitchell, Allen, and Garland.

Embiid was the last of my original draft picks. He was key in my one championship and I hope he kills it this year. But my team isn't going anywhere this year so making a move for the future. Mobley is a blue chip type prospect, hopefully he makes a leap as he matures. I worry there are lot of mouths to feed in Cleveland though. We'll see how this move plays out.

I'm very open for business on the trade front. Giannis and Ivey off limits.

CJ isn't off limits but I need his 3pt shooting going forward so it would need to be the right kind of deal.

PJ Washington is young so probably staying but as part of a larger deal maybe.

Everyone else is very very available

We need to address a problem. Some managers are stashing players in the IL+ slots. They get rightfully placed there with an O or GTD. The problem is the managers aren't removing them once they are available to play. There are quite a few guys in the IL+ slots that could be playing games for other managers.

This is unfair as it dilutes the pool of available players and really is basically giving offending managers larger rosters. Commish and co-commishes should address this immediately.

I only see a couple of players that are on the IL spot that are playing tonight, one on Sunskerr team and the other on Terovibe Dy. I don't see an issue because typically if a guy is on the IL spot and you want to try to move players around the system won't allow it until that player on the IL spot is reactivated to at least a bench spot, and when that happens they have to cut someone. I also don't see why someone would intentionally put someone on the IL spot and leave them there if they were producing good stats.

For me, I took Kyrie off the IL spot a couple days ago, but then heard he is still out, so I put him back on there, and in the meantime I picked up Killian Hayes who I will likely cut soon.

Regarding my use of IL:

It's an unusual scenario that doesn't happen often. I'm just in a scenario where the replacements (Plumlee/Bol/Payne) I got just happened to get the same stats/production as the injured guys, and that if I brought back Vanderbilt or Okongwu (Poku started for me today) they probably wouldn't even crack the starting lineup (especially Okongwu).

Ultimately these guys actually have some value being all around ~22 years old and getting minutes and some proven production. So rest assured it would not be the players on my IL being dropped but rather Plumlee and Cam Payne.

I think I am the only one "abusing" this, because I went back and looked at the ILs and really only Christian Wood is still on IL and not injured. But that's not to his team's advantage because Christian Wood way too good to stay there. Drummond is arguable long term but is producing right now.

It goes without saying that if someone wants to rebuild/is rebuilding and needs a boatload of 20-23 year old role players and prospects that are possible keeper level players then they can totally trade me. Still looking for a star in the middle (PF or C).

I see no problem with what they're doing. It's part of the game. In every league I see someone doing it. It's whatever to me and I'm not for anyone being forced to drop players.

I will say sometimes it's hard to know who will come off when unless you check daily. I usually set lineups a week ahead or so. I got screwed in premier because I didn't realize Turner was back and I still had him on IL and he had a monster game. I doubt anyone would do this on purpose (unless maybe it's some young developing player that doesn't do much) but if I personally ever do it it's only because I haven't realized he's come off IL and posted my lineup in advance.

I didn't see this before my last post but that would be what I am assuming bigfoot is talking about. You are taking advantage of leaving young developing players on IL and picking up decent guys off waivers or FA and taking talent out of the pool while leaving guys on IL no longer eligible. I actually agree with him here. That's kind of abusing the whole point.

I do it on accident sometimes but only because I set my lineup in advance and didn't realize a guy is back. Though everyone I have picked up has been worthless and I pretty much can't wait to drop them (can't remember if I'm talking about dynasty in that respect, premier or both but more likely dynasty since it's so much deeper).

Re: 2022-23 Dynasty Season Discussion

Post#500 » by sunskerr » Tue Nov 15, 2022 7:07 am

Ok here's the breakdown of how I feel, as well as what actually has happened and the factors behind why this happened, and why this isn't just a regular case of someone leaving a healthy player on IL, and the way in that it is most likely to happen again.

Not gonna lie it feels like I'd be getting punished for having both a good draft (because all the guys I drafted actually have some value) and also finding good waiver pickups. I can no longer make FA adds (idk if I can trade or not) and I missed out on adding Deni Avdija (for a 3rd time this year ) because of that.

Again it has to be stated that it feels like such a rare scenario that requires basically every single player on your team to be rosterable. Normally when this happens it's to a team's detriment. But in this case they're all about equally producing AND my entire roster is playable. I've never even seen this happen before in our dynasty league.

Having healthy players on IL has never been called out before because again, previously it's always been a detriment to do this. So for it to be called out now for the first time when it has an advantage is just a bit annoying. So it seems right now it qualifies as "abuse" once it meets these conditions:

-your replacement player is as good as the IL player
-your roster is completely full of players that should be rostered

So I don't feel like it actually even qualifies as "abuse". I'm just doing what the rules allow me to do because of how much talent I have on my team. I don't think there's another team in the league that can conceivably pull this off.

THAT BEING SAID

I can understand how it could be exploited by rebuilding teams to stockpile young players with low value. Because the definition of "rosterable" changes when we talk about rebuilding teams, and prospect level players can have apparently such low or "unknown" value (in this sense, they are "rosterable" because rebuilding teams need prospects) that it can potentially be easy to see a rebuilding team with a roster full of ~20 year old prospects with unknown values. So once a prospect with "unknown" value gets an INJ/O/GTD tag they can just put him on IL and find another player from the FA pool. If the added player is a prospect (again, value unknown) then he in effect has the same value as the IL player, and if the added player has value from actually producing stats, then there is no reason to remove the healthy player from IL.

^This is ostensibly speaking the same as what I have been able to do, but in the above example the prospect players are not worth as much as, say, Okongwu and Vanderbilt. So the above scenario is hypothetically more common than my personal case.

I'm willing to vote on something like this. If we do vote for policing the IL slots we'll have to come up with some regulations, and all managers will have to be aware. And then we have to decide whether to implement it now or in the offseason.
