MarJon better watch out, if he keeps improving the Bucks are going to start load managing him.

Reporter: When did you know you truly belonged in the league and had an important role on the Bucks?

MarJon: When coach Bud kept me out of the lineup for 3 weeks with a stubbed toe.

Outside of Brogdon this seems like the first promising young guy they've added next to Giannis in 9 years. Insane.

Idk, with Brogdon I could see he was a player right away. I remember being able to tell at the open scrimmage.

I’m still pretty skeptical (actually “reserved” is a better word) about our Marjon.

Sterling Brown, Rashard Vaughn, DJ Wilson, Thon Maker all had nice moments early in their careers too.

It’s still too soon.

That Bridges comp doesn't seem that far off watching him lately. If you squint you may be able to think even higher. Long ways to go, but he's getting better and more confident every game.

I've hardly been able to watch MJB this year yet, but he already looks at the very least a tier above those guys.

DJ and Thon were at least interesting for a while, they fooled me at points. Vaughn and Brown were clearly rough and had nothing exciting about them, don't think Vaughn went over 10 points his entire rookie year on a bad team. Brown was a 23 year old rookie 2nd rounder who didn't have anything interesting about him nor flashed much anything at all. And I mean Thon was a 23 year old top 10 pick, and couldn't even see the floor for most of his rookie season because he was that bad

If were going to talk about nice moments early in their careers, MJB is doing it the earliest and most consistently out of all those guys I reckon, not to mention this is the best team any of those players would have been on. Not being on board with MJB based on what we've seen does seem a little contrarian. I understand skepticism though, it's hard for me to believe it as well, this is very unusual for the Bucks.

He isnt hitting an unsustainable percentage of 3s, or playing a role that is out of the realm or normalcy.

Hes playing how he played in the g league, in a well defined role and one thatll be there for him all season.

This is exactly the impact he had on the Ignite.

To not be extremly hyped for this prospect is crazy.

Just think it's funny to note that MarJon already has 2 8 rebound games. Thon never stopped 7 as a rookie center.

Definitely excited for Marjon but I understand keeping your expectations low, especially with the Bucks :)

That’s a fair point—none of those other guys got minutes (productive minutes) on a good team. Brown and Vaughn had a handful of good scoring games but only in games that were 48 minutes of garbage time, basically.

Idk. I’m not trying to be contrarian, though I’m aware of course that I’m going against the grain. I’m just trying to be honest about what I see. Time will tell!

It's surreal how freely everyone now refers to Giannis as the best player in the world.

What a time to be a bucks fan, could never dream of this.

emunney wrote:Said this about MJB after we drafted him, maybe even in this thread, but his scoring instincts around the rim are a good reason to be optimistic about him long term and set him apart from guys like DJ and Thon who were like jittery and/or pensive. He's got a much better sense for how to use his body and the rim to protect the ball, how to get guys up in the air, how/when to show the ball, and how/when to use the damn backboard. Also his footwork is really rough but it's also apparent he's got a feel for it. He ad-libbed a wrong-footed finish past a defender yesterday when putting the other foot down would have meant a travel.

The body protection stood out, also his ability to instinctively identify an opening on defence and exploited it. Also his aggressive offensive running, and catching well.
Finally, the very methodical way he is working around the 3 point line. This is mechanical but clearly something he's been working on, so it should become more fluid with reps.

Now that we, and Giannis, have built him up, I'm expecting a pube game tomorrow night.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I don't expect consistency from a one month into the season rookie.

Last time he had a great game he was awful next.

Also Marjon is going to be a great player. I think the concerns about the limitations in his game were greatly overblown.

I had my doubt but I'm a believer now, kid is a great athlete and has a natural feel for the game.
