Poll aboard.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Not like any of the 2nd year guys have made huge leaps to reconsider.

Cade. But I'd trade Cade for #1 OA in this upcoming draft. Not sure I would have said that before the season started. Cade might be too passive to be a superstar.

This team needed a Cade and still does.

It's still Cade, BUT it would be really interesting to know what the details of the reported SGA trade for #1 pick were. The idea that we could have maybe had SGA plus someone like Franz Wagner...

In reality, if I could have known what all the trade offers were for #1 pick I'm sure most of us would trade down but if we were forced to keep the #1 pick I think its still Cade, despite his struggles he's shown star potential.

None of them have made a jump this season so far so by default it's Cade.

Yep, all of this.
Cade for Wembanyama is a no brainer but I'm more in agreeance with you that he just doesn't have the mentality to be a superstar.
If he had Ivey's mentality or Luka/Tatum since those were his comparables, he'd be a top tier player because he has a high end overall skillset but I don't think he has that killer instinct that many stars do and it puts a cap on his potential IMO. With that said, I'm still taking him #1 in the 2021 draft without question.

This may be controversial but give me Paolo over Cade, too. Now certainly that can change but I think thats a no brainer from what we know at this moment.

Yeah, I had them as similar level prospects pre draft before their respective drafts, but that was under the assumption Cade was an elite 3pt shooter on volume, as we've seen, that unfortunately hasn't been the case.

I think Paolo has top 10 in the league potential

A better thread could’ve been “Redo one pick, but not Darko”.

This is to early for a “ya still like Cade?”

?

I would say the mentality is his greatest asset and his lack of athleticism is the hurdle. Dude regularly puts the team on his back and was one of the best clutch scorers in the league the 2nd half of last season. He's gonna hit some valleys in his first 100-200 NBA games, it's normal. He'll be fine.

Luka gives people unrealistic expectations.

Cade is great. But so is Mobley.

Cade is the most complete player, none of those can create at his level. Give the ball every possession to Barnes and we see how it goes. Both, Barnes and Mobley benefit from being in better teams. The fair comparison is to Jalen Green and he is a pure scorer with no vision to create for the rest.

Anyway, the class is great and all four are likely to be stars in the league but we were lucky to get Cade.

Cade was the best player on his team the moment he was drafted, and still is. None of the others were, or are now. Cade by a mile.

I agree with your answer, but not your reasoning. Would Cade be the best player on the Cavs right now? Or last year?

That has little to do with it.

Cade is still the player you would most want to build a team around. Which is what we did/do need.

If a team already had somebody like D.Mitchell then I could see how Barnes might be more attractive, but in both a vacuum and in our specific position, I think Cade is pretty clearly the answer.

It's kinda crazy to me how quickly some of you have flipped. This is a 2nd year player who was friggin dominant during stretches last season. Ya'll wanna give Hayes/Bey like 4 years but poor Cade is supposed to already be Kobe.

Cade will be fine and this whole conversation is going to look silly in the near future.

Yeah I remember you actually saying you had Paolo as a similar prospect to Cade. Few people were saying that predraft though. Orl correctly assessed Coach K not using Paolo to full potential as well.

I think now that we've seen Paolo everyone outside of some Pistons fans would take Paolo over Cade or anyone in his class. Paolo looks like a guy who could be a all star this season and with a year 2 jump could be ALL NBA as soon as next season barring staying healthy ofc.
