I would have agreed with you before the season, but there's literally no reason to keep him on his long contract for a rebuild, especially if the fit next to your star player is questionable. I think our roster is that bad.

I honestly don't think the roster is that bad. I'd like to see what we would be like with Miles, Lamelo, Gordon, Martin, etc.

But that looks pretty well screwed

I do think the way things are going we could very well be headed for a top 5 pick with Miles gone for the year. Then we bring that pick in with Miles back next season and Gordon on an expiring and see what happens. I don't think it's all doom and gloom.

Has anyone ever turned out a max offer in RFA? Lamelo won't do that, he's not stupid. I'm also not trading for anyone just to appease him. He's not a Lebron or Giannis or anything like that.

Its definitely not doom and gloom if we finish with the worst odds and our saviors are Victor or Scoot. If Scoot then he needs to be playing big minutes right away, which means Terry will need to be gone anyway. We cannot be that dumb of a franchise to get a player like Scoot and then only play him 15 min off the bench for Terry Rozier. At that point MJ would need to sell so we can bring smarter people in here.

The doom and gloom comes from the front office and direction of the team. They seem hell bent on winning this year, and we are 3-9 and a high chance to be 3-11 with the injuries we have. They can't possibly be that delusional to think they can turn it around being this far under .500 in week 3 of the season. Its insulting to us fans. I get you and others here want to win, and I feel for you, but I'm just tired of the bull at this point

Way off topic, and of course we'd draft him if we did pick 2nd, but I don't like Scoots fit next to Lamelo. Only 6'2 (probably more like 6'1) and has played lead guard his entire life from what I've seen. He's a stud though so we take him and figure it all out later

Throwing out one I think both sides agree to.

Rozier + Hayward + Oubre + 3 unprotected 1RP for KAT & D'Angelo Russell.

Minnesota restocks their cabinet after shooting their load for Gobert, pick up cheaper deals, and take out toxicity of their locker room with solid vets. Charlotte gets back an All-Star, keeps some scoring, & gets a squad to convince LaMelo to commit long term.

2023 Starting Five:
LaMelo
DLo
Miles Bridges
PJ
KAT

I personally don't think KAT is worth 3x unprotected firsts

I would've agreed to that 4 years ago. Not now.

KAT has proven time and time again he isn't a winner. No thanks.

Same. I think it's hard to win with a guy like KAT plus he'll be making 61m in the final year of his contract. That thing is gonna be unmovable

It's really hard to look at MIN right now and be like things would be different here if we had KAT and DLO.

Back with one I think will actually happen, also the only trade we'll make this year.

Kelly Oubre to Dallas for Reggie Bullock + a 2025 1st.

I have a hard time believing Dallas would include a 1st in that swap. They like Bullock

Miami seems like a good fit for Oubre. Teams will get desperate soon. I can see teams ponying up for each of Terry, Gordon, and Kelly. Dallas, Miami, Brooklyn, Clippers, Knicks, Hawks, a lot of teams need help and want to win now.

Kinda weird in that McDaniels and Cody are both probably worth just as much or more than a lottery pick without actually being lottery pick talent. They are just really really good insurance pieces. I think I would turn down a lottery pick if offered one for either.

Richaun Holmes is just getting DNP-CDs for the Kings. I'd guess his price tag isn't too steep, no? Would he be worth replacing Plum with as an improvement for a stopgap center since the Hornets likely will refuse to tank this year?

Richards is better.

Fair.

I also hope that, if/when we get rid of Plum by the deadline, we don't get a center in return, so that all center minutes going forward can go to Nick/Mark/Kai.

Pat Riley's on the phone. He says he'll give two first round picks if we give up Oubre and take on the Duncan Robinson contract. You doing it?

I still believe 100% Charlotte will trade for KAT this season. Winning player or not or whatever, they've got contracts they're trying to shed, and dude is still an all-star that'll be available when Minnesota realizes by January this isn't working. They want that Melo/Bridges/KAT big three.
