I remember 40 year old Bonzi Wells averaging a 40 point trip dub in this league.

He played in China, not Japan, and it was at age 32, not 40. Crazy how his career ended so early, when in fact age 32 is definitely still considered a player's prime nowadays, even if it's not the peak.

But yea Bonzi averaged 34, 9 and 4 and China is notoriously known for players putting up gaudy scoring numbers.

It's neither my friend, it's simply the huge skill gap between Dwight and the other players.

Even in his twilight years, he's just so much better than them... it's not even funny.

Let me tell you a story: in the 90s, there was an awesome player back here, in the Brazilian league, called Askia Jones.

Have you ever heard of him? Probably not, right?

He was amazing, dropping 30/10/10 games every week. Far and away the best player of that league, in that time.

I know he can physically dominate Taiwan, but what about the outside shooting and free-throw-shooting? Is that lucky/hot on the day or will he continue to be a great shooter in Taiwan? I wasn't surprised by Dwight scoring big in Taiwan, just the outside shooting and free-throws

He's 36, he's a little old for that.

It kind of loses its luster after awhile once the hormones shut up around 30.

Facts. I can also remember getting bored of the 5sums right around that time .

Plus, you can't compare someone who works out twice a day to an average 30 year old that works at an office and plays 3 on 3 on saturday mornings. On top of that Dwight has super easy access to women and doesn't have to spend a ton of hours going from club to club, going on dates, texting etc. Those are the things that get tiring after a while even for the non professional athletes who stay in really good shape in their 30s.

Random hookups get a little sad and empty if that's all you do, but if there's a big drop in your sex drive at 30, you should really get it checked out.

Smaller, far less athletic, and far less skilled Rudy Gobert has averaged over 15 PPG multiple times with a star teammate who refuses to pass to him for personal reasons.

The issue is his sheer size and athleticism. They are comfortable just standing an watching him shoot. However, when he actually attacks the basket the players aren't physically strong enough to actually get in his way without getting hurt. It's similar to the situation on the first LBJ dunk. Tony Parker could probably have gotten in front of LBJ, though there was definitely a risk of it being a blocking foul. But if LBJ bumps into TP, Parker will hurt himself.

I'm using Bron as an example because when the differences in strength are so massive, players would just act like humans and will avoid getting hurt. Another thing that changes in the NBA is that players are of course athletic enough to let someone like Dwight get to the basket but meet him at the summit.

But I do agree that that Taiwanese team was particularly small and just looked helpless. This clip from yesterday's day is different. The team has enough mass to keep Dwight out of the paint. He ended scoring 23 points on mainly jump shots. That looks more like how European teams would defend him.

I'm comparing the difference between prime LBJ and TP to the difference between 37 year old Dwight and Taiwanese basketball players.
Regarding the open shots, that's just their gameplan. They are too slow to stop Dwight, if they contest his shot, because he will blow by them.
