Moving the convo here. Does it say he’s good on defense and sucks on offense? Can’t read this **** on my phone

Wait, is that RJs head in the corner? Is it saying he’s good defensively and bad offensively?
the bottom left is the worst and the top right is the best. up and down is how good you are on defense. left to right offense. he's bad at both but worse defensively.
Damn. So RJ is right now the worst starter in the NBA? Maybe worst NBA player that gets regular minutes?

according to this metric. does it mean he actually is ? hard to say. but he's been really really bad no matter if you buy into this or not.

Re: Will the Knicks regret the RJ extension?
All I know is it made absolutely no sense to give him that extension and especially at that particular point in time. He is not anywhere in the Zion Williamson or Ja Morant category in terms of NBA caliber talent and impact that you need to be extending him as either a cost saving investment or a sign of a teams commitment to said player. Doesn't mean he's a bad player but it made no sense. And no it doesn't matter if the Heat extended Tyler Herro, the Warriors extended Jordan Poole or the Hawks extended Hunter. And it'll obviously be a lot harder to trade him now with that extension and his pretty awful play so far this season. Is the poor play all RJ's fault? No...I don't think so. This team is not a fit and he's basically a JV version of Randle in way too many ways where it counts for his skills to be maximized on this team and in this system. Which is why once again you need an experienced front office not "names" (like Phil Jackson and Leon Rose) dropped in to try and resurrect this team.

Too many sensitive folks on here who can't tolerate any bad words about guys we drafted.
I honestly wanted RJ traded for Mitchell and this is coming from a guy who didn't like Mitchell and kept calling him onovan Mitchell.
Still Mitchell is 10x the player RJ Brickrett will ever be.

You can't even compare RJ to Herro or Poole who are considered bad contracts too atm.
At least Herro and Poole were able to be efficient scorers while RJ is as inefficient as Westbrick without any of the positive qualities WB had.

Re: Will the Knicks regret the RJ extension?
I already regret it and would never have done it. The timing makes it worse. This FO is just terrible with contracts. Terrible with roster construction. Terrible draft decisions basically. Terrible planning all around. They just get CAA clients and friends paid. That's all they do well.

Re: Will the Knicks regret the RJ extension?
Opposed to popular belief... I actually think Knicks over-invest in "our youth" in a way. I know it doesn't feel that way because historically we always trade our picks and prospects. But in cases like Kevin Knox and Frank N. I think those 2 players wouldn't have seen 2 years with any other team.
Now we have RJ Barrett because we couldn't trade him for Donovan Mitchell. Sunk-cost fallacy... we drafted him at #3 and extended him. So we think our investment has to pay off. And denial... he ain't good but we try to convince ourselves that he is.
Anyways, every year I feel we have a crappy player(s) where we always say "he's going to be good, just watch". And they never are lol.
I still think we should hold prospects and picks. But not be so attached to them. Once they suck, move on. Don't extend. On to the next. We should have never been at this point with RJ, but now we dung our own grave and here we are.
I still lean Team Tank. If we were willing to accept that RJ would never be a legit 1 or 2 option, we might have done another tank year or 2.
Conclusion, I think Knicks got half the idea right. Keep your picks and young players. But don't be afraid to turn them over and give it another go. Why the Knicks just thought RJ was the one because he was #3 is beyond me.

We warned them. Now it all needs to be burned down.

We may regret all of our extensions, although the Mitch extension may prove the most palatable.

Real clown ish
Nobody wants RJ to fail.
Pointing out that he sucks - which is a reality - is different than wanting him to suck.
It doesn't even make sense as Knicks fan to want him to fail. He's just not good.
If you just looked at the stats from last season instead of defending him against the "haters" (meaning all the data and obvious flaws that were put in front of you), this would not surprise you.

Didnt vote...Waiting for a good game then I will vote yes
I said I would have waited to extend him. He is playing awful. But I still think he will settle down, eventually be at least a solid player and the contract wont look bad down the line.
