I would love for the kings to get him. Someone needs to save that franchise.

I think it's great for the league that Victor is getting to go to a team like the Pelicans where he can work on his body and his game and not have to be a savior on day 1 with no help. It's a great fit, I'm really happy for him. :)

Unreal carrying of basketball.

Would be great to land him, amd pair him with the Pistons other high draft picks. Maybe then they can finally get to 30 wins.

Cade#1
Bagley#2
Ivey#5
Hayes#7

Its gonna be another top 5 pick for sure.

When will it end? 2023? 2024? 2030?

Who knows. All I know is visiting tankathon before the 18th game of the season already, sucks.

Hard to imagine Wimby not being a perennial all star at the low end and multiple MVPs on the high end. I don't think he's a sure thing though as his biggest concern will be injuries. The list of durable 7'5 guys with long careers in the history of the NBA is short, and that will be more pronounced in today's game that is more physically taxing on the lower body (much more run, jump, torque). His potential on both ends of the court though is unreal.

That's not a real question

I presume it's "possible" since he's so young so theoretically its possible but theres like a 99.9% chance he wont get to that level

Mind u, Durant being THAT good of a scorer at his height is incredible combined with his ball handling - durant's a unicorn basically

Wemby being 7'5 means he can literally take a shot anytime over anyone

There is no realstic way Wemby will ever be the perimeter threat that Durant is and thats fine..

If that were to happen he will be the undisputed goat by the time he's 23 lol

Let's not get carried away..he will never be able to handle the ball or shoot as well as Durant but that's ok cuz he's 7'5

I disagree. He could develop into a scoring threat at Durants level in the sense of requiring post season game planning and double teaming. I see some serious handles developing and touch. That jumpshot will be unguardable unless you are facing another Wemby. At minimum a perrenial DPOY candidate. It’s not even going to be fair to other teams that miss the lotto.

How many years it takes to build a winning team through the draft is broadly misunderstood and underestimated. It takes forever even if you draft a guy in the MJ, Lebron, Giannis range. It's just how the NBA is, almost like everything works based on seniority, gotta put in the years and wait for your turn sort of thing... Cut any corners and you're back to zero.

I don't want to put a ceiling on Wemby, and I think he really can be a major, big-time perimeter threat, but Durant came into the league shooting 87% from the line and is at 89% for his career. That's probably too high of a bar. If Wemby peaks/primes at 85%, you probably feel he's hit his full potential. But yeah, I don't want to project him, just to enjoy him. But let's understand that KD is among the best shooters ever to play the game, particularly in the context of his length.

that was precisely what I was trying to say, you said it better (English isn't my first language :P)

The back to the basket game from him is the most surprising thing, having shimmy fake turnarounds over either shoulder at that age in this era is unheard of.

The Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes is really starting to heat up now. Let's see where we are on the board of maestros competing for the prize of this generation!

Image

The top 10 is starting to round into expected form. Clearly the Pistons, Rockets, Hornets and Magic are going for it! They are running in this race like horses that will be shot the next day if they don't place.

Pistons locking down Cade early is a masterstroke. Ivey is looking great and so is Duren. What a great team they will have maybe in a couple seasons!

Rockets too! Jr and Eason are starting to play much better. To me they are the favorites to get Wemby and I think he would fit so perfectly in their projected starting five next year: Green, Porter, Eason, Jr & Wemby. Now that might just get them a championship! So there is hope hope hope in Texas!

Spurs are finally finding their form and will be competing for the prize soon assuming Wemby doesn't like showing his pee-pee to girls.

Lakers are really looking like they wanna give Wemby to the Pelicans. At least they got that one asterisk championship so it was worth it right?

Also, we can see OKC coming up from the rear. Told you we would need to watch out for them. They are the maestros of maestros at this game!

That's all! See you next week and keep praying that the lucky balls in the sky bounce your way (asteroids that is putting us out of our misery)!

There is truth to this, but define ''slightly''. Wemby is more dominant in France than Bol was in college. Wemby is faster and taller, more potential on D.

Similar concerns on D, but Wemby has less of it, Both are super long who can dribble, but Wemby can crossover dudes, where Bol can just dribble down the court. Both lack strength, but Wemby starting to fill out. Both like taking guard like jumpshots, that are often bad shot selection, but both can hit those.

Similar, but simply put, Wemby is even longer, he is faster, better athlete, he is more polished, more versatile, and hopefully he wont suffer serious injury right before draft like Bol did.
