The higher usage player that opposing teams plan defense around, that takes the double teams, that makes something happen when nothing else is working, and often gets beat up in the process, that player may be doing a lot more than his individual stats show (Curry is even better than his stats!), drawing the attention of defenses and creating spaces and opportunities for his teammates. I don’t know how you quantify that

It can be teased out, albeit with a lot of noise, in on/off and +/- breakdowns. Or when you look at the two-man line-ups of any particular player. Look at the eFG% and you'll see some players consistently contribute a positive eFG% when they are on the floor, even if their individual efficiency isn't all that great. You see it starkly with a role-player glue guy like Deni. But if i recall correctly Westbrook raised the statlines of his teammates even when he was gunning and missing. Especially any big who played with him. Magnified if they were proficient offensive rebounders for obvious reasons.
