I don't get how they don't have anyone better than Vertonghen. He looked way past it years ago. And he got released after being like the 5th choice w/Benfica.

TBH, Costa Rica played about the worst "defense" I've ever seen. They were complacent with Spain doing whatever they wanted. Most of those goals were due to the lazy and scared play from CR.

Sad how fast he declined. Was one of my favourite players at Spurs for many years, great defensive instincts and composure on the ball. There was a game in the Champions League against Dortmund where we played him at left-back, and he was out there looking like Roberto Carlos, getting forward, scoring goals and whipping immaculate crosses in from the left.

Injuries suck. And, well, aging.

It’s weird because I thought Denayer would be next up for them, but for some reason it took him a while to find a club in the summer when he got released. Faes is supposed to be good as well, but I haven’t really watched Leicester play so I’m unsure.

I thought by now they’d have someone to start ahead of Vertonghen though.
