Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Flip is a very fun college player to watch. Either than that Duke doesn’t have NBA caliber players at the moment.
Lively is straight up bad at everything at the moment.
Mitchell isn’t quite the athlete I thought he was and has zero offensive game
Proctor, oh boy does he have a very long ways to go
Whitehead I was a huge fan of, but man he has looked bad so far. The jumper is really inconsistent and he looks out of shape and has no explosiveness. Dude has already short rimmed two dunks and gets zero separation. Still holding out hope on him getting in shape and looking better. But right now these guys all look bad. And they’ve all been given their chances so far, just are doing nothing with their chances.

i have too much confidence in DWH at this point still not to say he's gonna turn it around once he's fully healthy and in shape

Ya that’s my hope as both a Whitehead and a Duke fan. Just as of right now he’s looked bad. I’m with you though, I’m still at the point where I’m holding out hope that he gets in shape and looks better.

Ya that shot is high and quick, he's had no problem at all getting it off in college and wont have an issue in the pros either. Legit high level sharp shooter with good size.
It’s clear he can shoot over anyone. Do you think he’s a lotto pick?
100%. I personally have him top 10. With these guys there is kind of the thought process of is he just a straight up catch and shoot guy? If so you can find quality guys like that for cheap (Grayson Allen, Max Strus and so on), or can they take the next step like what weve seen from Bane this year. I think he is big enough, mobile enough and crafty enough to be more than just a catch and shoot guy. So ya I got him in my top 10.
If you want to argue he goes late teens/early 20s fine. But he's not even the best player on his own team, Jalen Wilson, and it's a deep-ish class. He will struggle to put the ball on the floor and defend at the NBA level. His hot shooting won't last. He'll come back down to earth and without elite shooting to separate him other talented wings from this class will go over him. Just my early impression of him and I could be completely wrong. He's definitely an NBA level player in that Braun, Grant Williams, Barnes mold but top 10? I think teams will expect at least star upside in the top 10.

Do you think Ballo can be a 1st round pick?
Praying for Burrow

Man, I remember the first time I saw Lamont at a West Coast Elite event, and he held his own against some top level prospects like Nico Mannion and Josh Green, and after about two games, it was clear his own court awareness and intelligence was way above his age....has translated well so far, and still think he has a ways to grow.

Hoping Jaylen Clark is one of those guys.

He's definitely opening up some eyes. This draft is looking crazy deep at the big guard/wing position.
BTW, any updates on Cam Whitmore? Can't wait to see him in action.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
Since at this time of the year, there's still a lot of movement – especially for the non-premiere prospects – on boards, with players who look like they may have first-round potential falling out of the draft and vice versa, I thought it would be interesting to get some early thoughts on upperclassmen and where you project them to be ranked by NBA teams.
Let's call it the ‘first round / second round / undrafted’ game. I'll give you a list of players and you tell me if you expect them to be drafted in the first round, second round, or go undrafted (just assume that everyone declares even though some still have eligibility to return). Obviously more of a game for draft nerds but I know some are around on this board.
Azoulas Tubelis (Arizona)
Pelle Larsson (Arizona)
Adam Flagler (Baylor)
Baylor Scheierman (Creighton)
Julian Strawther (Gonzaga)
Marcus Sasser (Houston)
Terrence Shannon Jr. (Illinois)
Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana)
Kris Murray (Iowa)
Jalen Wilson (Kansas)
Oscar Tshiebwe (Kentucky)
Deandre Williams (Memphis)
Jaylen Clark (UCLA)
Jaime Jaquez Jr. (UCLA)
Adama Sanogo (UConn)
Caleb Love (UNC)
1st round, 2nd round, or undrafted?
PS: Feel free to add to the list anyone you think could be interesting to talk about. Also, which upperclassmen do you think are pretty much locked into being 1st round picks at this point? Out of the ones listed, I got Kris Murray and Jalen Wilson who I think could push into the lottery if they continue to play as they currently do.

Re: 2023 NBA Draft
DWH makes me sad. I was so high on him, but watching him early on I’m just not sure what he does well at this level. He never was a pure shooter, but he could get and knock down shots. He was so explosive off the dribble, but he looks fat and hes not doing anything off the bounce. Kinda depressing to watch such a great prospect look entirely mediocre.

I’m with you on Whitmore. Can’t wait to see him. So yeah if anybody knows where he’s at in terms of getting on the court, it would be appreciated.

i think out of this list the ones I'd for sure take in the 1st at this point are Shannon and Wilson. possibly Murray and Clark but we'll see. Tshiebwe could possibly find himself at the tail end of R1 for a PO team looking for a rebounding demon.

meh, people going overboard with Whitehead at this point. he's played a total of 43 mins so far, and is coming off an injury that sidelined him for months. there is no way he's not draftable today.
also Nick Smith Jr, Cam Whitmore, Baba Miller all have yet to play and would definitely get drafted. they don't need to play a single minute (like Sharpe) and will still be draftable.
i'd also add Skyy Clark and JJ Starling to the list.

laughable now and never made any sense, even before he played a single college minute. i'd bet same thing is gonna happen next year too to Aaron Bradshaw.

not sure if Skyy Clark is a 1AD but man he's good, if he was more consistently aggro he'd def be a 1st rounder for me.

I at least thought he, Ware and Bona would be lottery picks. But man, guards don't know how to feed them, coaches don't know how to utilize them, and they're competing with upperclassmen bigs that their coaches know and trust which eats into their already limited opportunities for minutes and touches. I still can't see how they'd all fall out of the first though. Too physically gifted and they all seem like good kids. It's really early still. Plenty of time to turn things around, have a strong tournament and test well in the combine/workouts before the draft.
