Lewandowski corralled for much of the half but made the most of the burst and assisted on Poland's goal.

Crucial two stops by Polish keeper on the PK. Not sure it should have been awarded but moot now.

KSA speed vs. spreading field and long balls over defenders.

If Poland could just stop passing to their opponent lol

You have a population of 330 million and your professional Football and Basketball leagues are miniscule. There should be plenty of talent for football. That is a weak excuse. The culture point is a better one.

There is little development of talent in the USA for soccer. It's not an excuse, it's a fact. Very few really care beyond youth league. I don't care what the population is--if no one cares to develop the talent, the sport won't take hold beyond any rudimentary level. If population was the main issue, China and India would be world powers in all sports.

My answer was in direct response to the comment that American talent goes to the NFL,NBA etc... I wasn't claiming that population resulted in development which would clearly be ludicrous.
I remember when the Dolphins were perennial contenders

Mexico is in real trouble with Poland win.

If they lose, they are basically out.

So much for 5th game if they can’t get out of the group.

Argentina must win to keep going as well, right?

An Argentina loss would mathematically eliminate them...Mexico, with a loss, would still have a chance but would need some help on the final night.

It's going to suck in 26 to lose this last match day drama

Ignoring Messi and Ronaldo, is Mbappe the best player in the world right now?

Are those two even in the conversation anymore? Especially Ronaldo?

I wouldn't say so. Messi is still playing well but he's mortal at this point. Ronaldo seems to have fallen off with the United drama, but I wouldn't put it past him to find form again.

Haaland, De Bruyne, Mbappe, for my money.

Might squeeze Benzema and Lewandowski in there as well, but they're obviously aging so yeah, that's probably the top three. I'd give the edge to Haaland myself; he's making the deepest and most competitive league in the world look like a Sunday rec league. It's a shame he's not here on the big stage.

Don’t forget to add Marquinhos as well to the best players in the world convo, defenders and goalkeepers often get overlooked

The result earlier today helped them in that regard.

If this ends in a draw. Argentina control their destiny. They must beat Poland by 2 goals. If they did that, they'd overtake Poland.

If Saudi Arabia had won, then they'd be in further trouble. They would have to win this game, otherwise they'd have to wait for the Saudis to get a result against Mexico in the last game.
