Frustrating to watch. Just no sense of urgency or killer instinct on this team. Beal was more concerned with joking around with Lowry and playing the “Mr. cool” role than winning the game. Porzingis looked clueless, just chucking up bricks and getting destroyed by Bam. Kispert and Avdija were absolutely terrible. Avdija was totally lost on both ends. Couldn’t make simple NBA plays.
Gafford and Goodwin played really well and should’ve played more. Gafford gave us a huge spark in the late 3rd early 4th and should’ve stayed in the game, clearly.
It’s just a giant pile of mediocrity.

Who believes this crap.........Beal dropped a 28/5/5 as PG with only 1 TO for the Wiz . I'll take that every game for a PG.

Great question.
Bol Bol and Mo Bamba play great together. Putting KP in the high post and having Gafford cut to the rim would be pretty unstoppable.
A coach who can't/won't experiment with lineups, is a not a good coach.

That’s because you can’t stand Gafford, either.
Wow, Ken. What's with the personal shots? I don't hate Gafford. I just don't think he's having a good year, but I thought he played well tonight. I'm being nice by saying he's not having a good year. I'm there for every minute since preseason and he's not playing with the same intensity as he did last season. Tonight, he brought it. I actually said that if you read my earlier post. Do I defend WUJ sometimes too often? Sure, I don't think he coached a bad game tonight. But his father was my idol so I don't critique maybe as much as I should.
Wes Unseld was my favorite NBA player

Beal was actually terrific. This loss isn’t on him.
I blame Porzingis for getting cooked by Bam. And Wes for not using Gaff more on a good night.
Also the chucking of 3s is insane.

I agree that Gafford was taken out too early in the 4th. But if I had to blame one person tonight, it's Corey Kispert but given that he's young and can improve.
Goodwin also made a few mistakes. The officials hate Deni.
I would like to see the team with at least one of the original point guards (Morris/Wright) . Of course the Heat didn't have Butler so it makes me skeptical that the Wizards would win.

The scouting report and the referees have pegged Deni as a serial fouler
Lowry was licking his chops to get Deni on a switch last game and his eyes lit up before that 4-point play.

Well, first off, I was out of town & unable to watch this game, so all I can look at is the numbers.
That said, this is another of those infrequent occasions where tleikheen & I are in agreement. I don't know what you can possibly expect a guard to do more than what Beal did in this game.
(That said, you could stand to moderate your way of expressing yourself, tleikheen....)

Few expectations for Goodwin. The Gafford issue is that Wes wants him to do that every night. Should have stayed with him when Bam came in? I don't think anybody is stopping Bam right now. Look at his numbers over the last 10 or last five. He's started to play like an All-Star big man once again. He's also stronger than everyone on the court. If Gaff just added those extra 10-15 pounds he wouldn't be Bam but at least he'd be able to hang with some of bigger dudes. KP is going to get pushed around. He's just a skilled 4-5 man who is finesse but he can protect the rim. Our rim protection/paint numbers are off the charts for us thus far.
There should be just one thread on Deni's fouls. Why does he get so many ticky-tack and questionable calls? Hmm. I don't know? Maybe he's 21 and has done nothing in this league as far as they are concerned but it's all the "what me?" stuff after every call. The histrionics. The gestures that the zebras don't like. You don't have to do that after almost every f-ing call and they know it. They see it. He's not LeBron who gets some of those calls and when he doesn't, he gives the look. But he's LeBron.
I know I'm one of toughest critics of Deni on this board because I know what he's eventually capable of doing with another team. ANd he was the No. 9 pick, he's very talented on both ends and he's still trying to put it together, esp. on offense. I do realize that he's still 21 and I wouldn't be willing to give him up for just anybody in a deal. To his credit, he also doesn't sit out games with minor injuries. He plays through them. I like the toughness on a team that isn't full of a bunch of ironmen like A.C Green.

I would have closed the game with KP - but the way Gafford was playing the last few minutes he was in, I would have rewarded Gafford with at least a few more minutes- plus it would have kept KP fresher down the stretch. It just seemed more glaring because as soon as KP was inserted into the game for Gafford with around 8 minutes, he let Bam get a dunk right at the basket. When Gafford was taken out he was playing well. And perhaps Gafford will earn more trust if he brings effort like that because he's been inconsistent to start the season although perhaps some of the bench lineups that he's been playing with haven't suited him.
Maybe it's not just a Deni thing on why he wasn't getting the calls. It was Lowry manipulating the officials and some players are better at it than others, he even drew an arguably more outrageous foul on Beal a bit later. But, Deni will probably have to get used to it - the Heat are going to continue to get calls like that when Jimmy Butler returns. Although it became a bit much when Caleb Martin was successful at drawing fouls on Deni.
NBA officials do reward home teams as well and you may be right that Deni should somehow endear himself to the officials. Although I suspect the refs haven't gotten the memo that Deni is a good defender either and often call him for fouls.
