Argentina just embarrassing play out there. So disappointing.

Goal scorers/creative forces are like quarterbacks in American football. Their impact is so outsized that it’s hard to look at any other position. And I say that as a former defender. For example, Haaland has 21 goal involvements in 13 PL matches. You’d have to be the second coming of Franz Beckenbauer to match that, and even then you’re probably coming up short.

Oh definitely, no defender will come close to that. However defenders and goalkeepers should be in the convo for best players in the world, naturally people prefer to look at things like assists goals etc. However some of the best all time players were defenders and goalkeepers.

I used to play RB and CM too, so I know what it’s like. Most of the time in those positions(more so RB/any defending positions) you won’t get the plaudits. I remember being 16 and pretty much had a very good season, but I didn’t get the best player of the season instead it went to one of our strikers because he got 30 goals in the season. Which is impressive, but his overall play was not that great he just had a knack of being at the right place at the right time. He had zero assist for the season lol, he could barely play a 10 yard pass.

Is this the same manager that won Argentina the Copa America? His tactics so far in this WC have been shocking.

Mexico are pressing well and they lack any type of respect for that Argentina midfield. They know they can disrupt them. Messi has to damn near drop down to the middle of the field in order to touch the ball.

As an Argentina fan. It's an incredibly overrated team. Had no idea how they were one of the favorites to win the WC. Even so this is flat out unacceptable.

I was going to mention De Paul has fallen off hard, he looked like a decent player before joining Atletico Madrid.

What an absolute disgrace Argentina is looking like. I hope they get booed at home when they get knocked out of the group stage. They **** deserve it. All that talk about not leaving the fans stranded was a bunch of crap. Disgrace of a team.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
