The difference between two players is at least 2 unprotected FRP.

I would give up Gay, Azubuike and Fonteechio and use Cleveland swap in 2026 or 2 seconds.

I am now past the point of hoping for VW or even a top 5 pick, so I am open to improving the team.

I personally think that Sexton is not going to work out to be the PG that the Jazz hope he can become, rendering him what he is and has been, a great driver/slasher and someone who can get you points when he has the green light (sixth man type) Unfortunately, he is only 6 feet tall and we already have that guy in Clarkson.

I realize some people aren't going to like this, but I would be willing right now to trade Sexton while his value is high and the Hawks need someone like him and Collins while his value is as low as it has ever been. Sexton, Gay and a protected FRP (top 20, worst of 2023 picks or the like) for Collins.

Collins is only 25 years old, which fits the new timeline of this team. He can play with Markk and/or Olynyk/Kessler (not all 4 at once, but two or three of them together could work, or if going small ball he could play C with Markk as PF). He can provide better rim protection than Markk or Olynyk while also providing better rebounding and not sacrificing outside shooting. He has offensive and defensive versatility. Let's not forget that he used to average 20pts, 10rbs, 1+ block with nearly 40% 3P% in the recent past. Olynyk (31 years old) has only a few million guaranteed next year, so you can move on from him if he and Collins is overly redundant.

Everyone loves Vandy and his energy and intensity, but let's be honest, he is limited skillwise and better off as your backup PF/big.

Pick up a backup PG (my suggestion is Quicklely for Bolamaro and a highly protected FRP, but make your own suggestion). I like the idea of Quickley as he is currently cheap and young and you can kick the tires for a few months and see if he can either be the backup or perhaps the starting PG (I think he has much more potential for that than Sexton). If he doesn't pan out, get another player next summer or perhaps even at the trade deadline.

^^Hawks ownership is looking to penny pinch and avoid the lux tax. They would likely want contracts that run for only one season so would more likely be looking at guys such as Beasley, JC, and Olynyk who basically only have one year left on their deals. I don't see any way they take on another long term contract especially at the guard position where they already have Trae and Dejounte taking up so much of their future capspace.

With that said I'm a bit doubtful taking on John Collins and his $102 mil owed in guaranteed money is the best use of capspace for the Jazz either considering all the other options they should have with their draft pick warchest. Even Quickley is kinda meh. He's another small guard and also due for a contract extension pretty soon. I wouldn't give up any draft capital for him.

Yes, only because I just can't believe they would be that delusional.

Funny thing is when the contract extension talks came around 90% of the bulls board thought it was a good contract for Collins while they thought 15m/year for Lauri was wayyy too high.

I was one of the few posters saying Lauri>Collins at that time.

Anyway Collins would be a poor fit for this team if looking for true upgrades. Utah needs more defense and some more playmakers. Not offensive specialists

Collins has a toxic contrat nobody wants......so I would trade sexton and filler, but otherwise I do not want him

He is good.....good enough to keep us above 500 instead of a proper tank.

Not that I'm advocating for Collins, but we're not doing a proper tank anyway. And his contract will look much better once the NBA signs a new TV rights deal.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

I remember.

I cannot fathom how you can tolerate the Bulls forum? I mean some of the opinions are so delusional, it's like the person giving his valuable 2 cents isn't even watching the games. And I'm no referring only to the Lauri threads.

Very funny. If the deal would've only involved rCollins straight for Markkanen.

Skybox wrote:I think Collins is empty calories...like a frontcourt Sexton (although I have more faith that Sexton could refine his game and really contribute off-ball or at least sixth-man flamethrower).

BTW, send Conley to ORL for expirings...we have a lot of talent in our playpen but need a babysitter with the ball in their hands - at least for a season and a half.

Not gonna support that idea.
