Mavs closing in on Kemba Walker

Post#1 » by Mavrelous » Mon Nov 28, 2022 12:03 pm

Marc Stein is reporting on his substack

:noway: :noway:
If casuals on message board can see the holes in your roster in June when Knicks started clearing cap space, and the FO and coaching staff don't see them, you're in deep ****.
I actually liked Kemba (as a player) more than Dragic and Facu, I prefered Dragic because of the mentor aspect.

If Kemba plays the level he played with the Knicks, and Kidd stops insisting on McGee and THJ, I think Mavs will surprise people, we'll need 20MPG, 10 PPG and 5APG from him, this is enough to reduce Luka/SD to 32 MPG and rest Luka B2Bs.
Mavs turned around the season last year when they got SD, who was considered a bad player.

He's FA, it'll be for the min, 99.9% Facu will get cut, he's unguaranteed, 0.1% Frank gets cut.

Dont they have to guarentee it if traded?

In Kemba, you get at least a rotation player.

They have at least admitted that they made huge mistake not signing Pg. I doubt that can change much, if they don't admitted other mistakes, starting with getting rid of Kidd.

I like Kemba more then Facu but why not at least try Hardy, Wright or Dorsey first. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. But we can't keep signing bandaid vets and never give a chance for the young guys to develop.

Temper your expectations...

He will most likely start off great as he did with the Knicks, then fade, then have another spurt of production, and then he'll be injured for the rest of the season.

Minimum salary though makes him a low risk/high reward signing.

Mavs are 7 years too late on the Kemba Walker signing. But at this point, they need to be open to try absolutely anything. Just freakin win some games.

The Mavs let Jalen Brunson walk in free agency for nothing just to replace him with a washed up version. LMAO!

The Mavs missed the playoffs without Brunson.

He was 25/11.6/3.5 with the Knicks as a starter, it isn't a stretch to think he'd be 20/10/5 against bench units...
