If there is a weird stat in the NBA, Luka will be part of it lol.

Biggest takeaway from this game was defense, DFS was back to the defensive coordinator role, and ignited the whole team with him, Green was a pest in a performance very few capable of producing, they didn't give Steph, Klay and Poole any space, and gambled on Green, Wiggins and that bulky rookie who hit some 3s, they gave up some lay ups, but chased their shooters off the 3 pt line.
It did take amazing game from Luka to win, but this is the best starting lineup in the league during a hot stretch when they needed the win just as much as the Mavs did, so it is not to be taken lightly.
I hope Kemba is able to give Luka and Spencer the breather they need for the team to get back on track.

Defense wins draft lotteries!

Hopefully this win gives them some confidence...good game by Josh and Timmy(hope it's not one and done for him)
They don't run anything for Wood. To be fair Kidd didn't run anything for anybody. But they really should be running more PNRs, screen and pops and post ups with Wood when he has a matchup

But he did manage a -14.
Anyone else secretly appreciating Bertans btw? The guy is just an absolute killer if put in the right places.
Bertans was solid last year too, but Kidd won't play him. I would have him ahead of Tim and Bullock in the rotation. His D is not as bad as it's made out to be. He's average, but when youre elite at shooting that's enough. He should be getting 15-20 min a game IMO

Kidd did sub him out with Bertans. But man Bertans is bad on defense, luckily he made those 3s.
But i'm happy refs called 8 secs on Luka, he always takes 3 days before he crosses the midcourt lol.
I don't think bertans is that bad on defense. He moves his feet pretty well and does a good job staying with his man. He fouls too much. Is he worse than Timmy, Luka or Dinwiddie though? I think it's a wash. He won't lock anyone down, but I don't see anyone cooking him either

Depends of the matchup, if Bertans makes couple of shots he basically always has a positive impact. But i do understand why Kidd doesn't trust him more minutes.
THJ and Dinwiddie are not good defenders, i would even argue that they are terrible, specially Dinwiddie. Dude is worse than a chair out there. It's kinda a disrespect to put Luka in the same sentence as these two since his stats rank among best Mavs defensive players. (Well when he's not lazy or tired and he's actually trying).

Bertans is a bad defender, but like you said, not the only one, difference with Bertans is that his value is not only making 3s, but providing great spacing for others, because he has to be defended strictly. You won't see him be wide open as Kleber, Green, DFS and Bullock ever. Smart coach would have used him a lot more, especially when half of the team is in the shooting slump.
