Rob Williams will certainly Improve our overall defense and rebounding like no man.. But almost as much, I can't wait for RW's vertical spacing ability. Watch the lanes open up for our players and/or his signature Alley Oop dunks.
Also wondering, when RW does comeback, will he get the Back to back games night off like Al?? I mean he is coming off of knee surgery. May have to stagger game with Big Al and RW on B2Bs

I mean our defence will get better true, but at the same time some of the lineups that can shoot lights out from 1 to 5 will be restricted.
Dont get me wrong i want to see him back but there’s probably gonna be a small dropoff on volume of 3s each game. Which might be good

Yeah. I posted that in a different thread awhile ago - I think you keep Al sitting out 2nd night of the B2B (cause that's been his routine) and you sit Rob on the 1st night of the B2B.
Assuming Rob will have a mins restriction too, at least for the first week or 2 after returning. I figure we're not gonna want him to play more than 25 mins in a game out of the gate - ease him in there..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Re: Robert Williams, aka "Timelord" – (Expected Return = Dec-Jan)
Kornet/Blake/Vonleh have played a combined 364 minutes in 16 games this year. That comes out to 22.75 minutes/game for that group. Even if Rob plays all the way up to 30 minutes per game, most of the minutes are coming from that group. I know they've all taken an occasional 3, but none force defenses to really defend "5-out" practically speaking. So I'm not really worried about Rob hurting our spacing because his minutes will come from a group of guys who don't really threaten defenses anyway.
I'm also really excited to see some off-ball action with Rob and Hauser. If you let Smart or Tatum handle the ball and then run an offball screen by Rob for Hauser, defenses have two tough outcomes to defend - Hauser free for a 3 or Rob for a lob at the rim. Lots of pressure on the defense to effectively defend both of them.

Woj says he spoke with Rob's agent and Rob is expected back around Christmas.

I think Rob off the bench with Tatum, Brogdon and Hauser could be frightening…. but I still like last year’s starting 5 best. Curious to see how the double big lineup looks in this year’s high flying NBA.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

Well we have to get revenge for the embarrassing loss to the bucks on Christmas last year! It'll be great to have Rob for that one.

Agree, especially with the bolded. Also would be VERY pumped to see a PG of choice/Tatum/Hauser/Grant/Timelord unit for a stretch. The PG/Tatum/Hauser/Grant/C has already been introduced this year.

Joe loves optimal spacing. He might opt to bring RW off the bench while on a minutes restriction then move Horford to the bench to start monitoring his minutes.

Cs can have best of both worlds. Open halves with double big lineup from last season then have two to three hybrid bench units throughout the game. Decision on who closes halves would be more interesting.
Smart | JB | JT | Horf | Rob
Smart | JB | White | Grant | Horf
Brogdon | JT | Hauser | Grant | Rob
I think they still close with Smart + Jays + Horf + one of White/Brogs/Grant/Rob.

Apart from being absurdly great defensively, last season's starting five still had a higher offensive rating than either of our regular starting units this season.
Smart/Jays/Horf + Grant ORtg: 116.5
Smart/Jays/Horf + White ORtg: 118.5
Smart/Jays/Horf + Timelord ORtg: 119.1

There are 6 teams in top 15 Ortg of all team from this season alone. That starting 5 might have a rating of 125-130 this year given the rule changes and coaching philosophy.

Our two current main “weaknesses” are offensive rebounding and lack of forced turnovers. Rob could help in both areas. He was our best offensive rebounder outside of Enes Freedom last season. He also led the team in loose balls recovered and led the bigs in deflections. Timelord as a roamer also allows the guards to be more aggressive with their PoA and onball defense.

Hell yeah. He looks good out there. Obviously not quite going full speed. And the regulars aren't out there (just Vonleh, Jackson and Kabengele). But it's still very encouraging. I'm guessing he's back in the lineup for the 12/16 game vs Orlando, possibly sooner but obviously we don't want to rush him back..
