Road Trip 11-27 to 12-7

Post#1 » by Wizop » Sat Nov 26, 2022 1:55 pm

Since no one started game threads for the last two games, I'm starting one for the whole seven game road trip. If this doesn't work well, the moderator can lock it.

Game one is the Clippers tomorrow. Early reports have PG and Kawai out.

I like the chances better with KL and PG out. But the Clips do have se underrated supporting pieces.

We're hitting 3's but giving up dunks and put backs. Zubac is a problem.

None of our guys seem to be able to match up with him. Time for a Goga sighting? Fight size with size?

Quinn agrees.

I thought they might have a role player step up, but I didn't expect 31 and 29 from Zubac

I used to say that in every game the opposing team would have some bench player have a career night against the Pacers. Zubac is a pretty good player but tonight he looked like a #1 over all pick. I bet the LAL wish they had him back,

Yes yes yes, a buzzerbeater to win the game against the awful Lakers. Specially their fans I really dislike with always their stupid robbing trade proposals.

This one we won, 1-1 on our west coast trip.

I watched the Colts fumble the season away and then watched half of the Pacer game and went to bed. I woke up early and decided to watch the recording I'd made of the second half in bed. Westbrook was playing like he did when he knocked us out of the play-in and I thought about giving up. I had not looked up the final score. we certainly won the 2022 draft with Mathurin and Nembhard. there is no tank in this squad.

I did similar Wizop watching the Colts offense sputter again and again. Then watched the Lakers toy with us the third quarter and part of the fourth.

We kept scrapping and finally came alive in the closing minutes of the fourth to take a lead or two.

Once again both rookies in at the end creating havoc defensively and contributing many ways.

Nembhard is showing so much as a rookie with nothing to lose attitude. Mathurin is a scoring type of mindset rookie and we couldn’t have gotten much better with drafting the pair.

Loved the celebrations by the players on the court, interviews after the game, exiting in the tunnel video, and locker room moments. They’ve really bought in.

A Pacer win and a Cavs loss tonight would put us in 3rd.

From SB nation article about Tanking for Victor :

List of probable tankers
Detroit Pistons
Houston Rockets
Indiana Pacers
Oklahoma City Thunder
Orlando Magic
San Antonio Spurs
Utah Jazz

Indiana Pacers

Current record: 12-8

Projected record: 38-44

Remaining schedule strength: .512, 3rd in the NBA

Outlook: The Indiana Pacers are our first team that has played themselves out of Wembanyama race. Indiana’s middle-of-the-pack record is supported by a similarly ranked offense and defense. Tyrese Haliburton is the best player in the NBA that almost no one is talking about. Or at least not enough. Also, counter to everything he’s ever done, Rick Carlisle has this team playing fast and getting into nightly shootouts.

If Indiana hangs onto Myles Turner and Buddy Hield, and it seems like they might, the Pacers aren’t going to lose enough to get back into chasing ping pong balls. With nearly $30 million in cap space, Indiana could still pursue upgrades to buoy a playoff push. That’s been the Pacers way for years, and there aren’t any signs it’s going to change now. Even a very tough schedule the rest of the way shouldn’t be enough to sway Indiana from chasing a playoff spot.

Sacramento took it to us playing faster and were hungrier.

Also
Kings had lost 3 straight and looking to get right.
Too much worrying about the officials.
Got Sabonis in foul trouble and couldn’t contain Metu.
Crowd was in it.
Pacers didn’t look prepared or expect Kings aggression.
Very bad shooting percentage first half.
Pacers just couldn’t run offense against scrappy Kings.

I watched Butler early and then IU. both won against good teams. I checked the Pacer score from time to time but just went to bed after the IU game ended and I will be deleting the recording of the Pacer game. we don't win often when we give up 120+.

I did basically the same thing. At half-time of the IU game, I switched to the Pacers for about 15 minutes, then went back to IU. From what I saw of the Pacers game, our defense didn't come close to matching their offense. I could say Turner was non-existent, but so were some of the other guys.

To say this game was dis-heartening would be a gross understatement.

Kings fan coming in peace.

You guys nailed the Mathurin pick. I was at the game last night and didn't realize how filled out that dude is for a 20 year old, he already looks like a grown man. I see easy top 10 potential for him and think he has a chance to be one of the best players in the league.

Also what a steal with Jalen Smith. That kid can straight up play. Sac had no answer for him last night and he was dominating on all levels. Crazy the Suns gave up on his at 21 years old, hes really the ideal power forward if he can continue to develop his skills.

Glad Hali made it to a competent team that is going to nail this rebuild!
