E Balla has the science down to the dot, I wasn't a believer but got to start take some notes myself, man even picked up Wayne Ellington and got to add a 100 FG to his depth chart. No reason why I can't adjust my line up and have Durant and Morant go off for 40 with some of the non scoring defensive players I have playing alongside them pushing them to shoot the ball 25 to 30 times a game.

You have the same problem I had a few years back. It's not in your blood to build a bad team even when you know you should. The pieces will always fit even if the talent is lower.

He doesn't take enough FGA inside for that to matter tbh. His 80 3 is what got him his spot.

Before Holmes came in at 1.5 stars he was unnecessary but I'm happy I have him now. There's just 1 more former Thunder and another guy out there I want to pick up.

Cap, my greedy is justified. Looks like if/when he returns 3.5 stars with 4.0 potential is the baseline (unless WS docks him for non-basketball related subjective reasons).

Add a 3.5 star / 4.0 potential combo forward in Bridges to what I already have in place, and I think next year Is when the vision will start to materialize.

Also, right now Trey Murphy III is rated as nothing more than a one dimensional 3pt shooter at 1 star with 77 FG3. The reality is next year I expect him to be a 3.0 star / 3.5 potential 3nD savant with at least 70-75 DEF rating with ~48% / 40% / 90% IRL shooting splits driving his efficiency.

I just gotta be patient through the suckage this year.

I don't know how they handle Miles there isn't much precedent there...as for Murphy I don't remember a 3/D guy ever getting that high of a rating before. That might be a little high of an expectation but it really doesn't matter for a 3/D guy ratings don't mean much. They don't have the counting stats to usually warrant high stars.

You want high FG3 and high defense. If thats the case he will preform the way you want him regardless of the stars.

I’m using Mikal Bridges as the comp:



If you examine Mikal’s 2021-22 season stats, which drove this year’s sim ratings, they’re extremely parallel to Murphy III.

I could project Murphy to finish with a superior 3PT% on higher volumes in shorter mins, higher FT% (current league leader), around equal steals, and he’ll probably end up with a higher PPG considering his minutes are increasing.

Mikal is rated 3 stars right now. So I think 3.0 / (3.5) is plausible for Trigga.

But I do get your overall message on the importance of individual FG3 and DEF over OVR star rating.

As for Miles, yeah no precedent exists. But it wouldn’t make any sense to me to dock a guy’s basketball rating who misses time for non-basketball / non-injury related reasons (legal / punitive matters). At the end of the day this is a simulated basketball game, not a court of law or court of public opinion. His stats / ratings should obviously just hold.

Well yes you are talking probably as elite of a 3/D guy as you can get. He finished 1st team all NBA defense and Murphy just isn't anywhere near that on the defense end yet. For example Mikal finished with the 13 best WAR (wins above replacement in the entire NBA) last year. He plays a ton of minutes and guards the best offensive perimeter player on the team. And even with all that WS kinda gave him a screw job on defense.

Some key stats I think you want to hope for his Murphy finishes close to 50% from the field +40% from 3 and over a steal a game. The plus 90% from the line is gravy (he doesn't get there enough to really make that too important).

Defense is still a hard predictor I think I usually come pretty close to who I think will get a good rating but then a rating like Mikal bridges throws me completely off and then Derrick Rose and Bruce Brown the other way no rhyme or reason for those good defensive ratings.

As for Miles if he's in the game I think you are correct he probably shouldn't be docked...I guess it depends when an NBA team is comfortable bringing him back.

i used to do OOTP. started on OOTP 7 or 8, i believe. those were great. uncle got me started with strat o matic. uncle has been doing it since near its inception. even drafted my cousin, who played for Siena college lol
