This is the evolution of Embiid I think we've been waiting for. That is, if it is an evolution, not a random one off. He's learning he can score with less effort by letting the guards do the work. If he becomes a finisher and embraces the role things change. It's obvious that because of it he has more in the tank for defense.

They have been so good defensively. Can't imagine that with Maxey and Harden getting 30 minutes.
But this is exactly why we pay Doc the big bucks. To figure chit like this out. If the 76ers take a big dive on defensive rating when they are fully healthy that is solely on Doc.
Not necessarily, but I kind of get your point. Doc's responsibility is to figure out how to win with the talent he has. Just like he has without a his stars.... Not to make James Harden and Tyrese Maxey defensive stars.
I posted it in another thread... This isn't college... Contracts matter and names matter. The best thing for this team is obviously for Maxey to come off the bench, but due to egos that is not going to happen. If that's not going to happen, the best thing is for Tucker to come off for either Matisse or Melton. Due to promises to Tucker, that clearly isn't going to happen.
It's a business, and while it's nice to think that the coach really controls the minutes. The money controls the minutes. Right now Harden has this franchise under his control until he signs. Morey has power over the coaching and roster.

Around 10ppg would be fine yeah.
Why? In that case who is averaging 10ppg less? Embiid? Tobias? Other starters? Bench?
The sixers are bottom half team as far as PPG and Pace. Middle pack in offensive rating. Guys are injured and in and out of the lineup. Him knocking down 2 wide open corner 3s and maybe a put back layup or cut in layup a game should not take away from anyone else's offense. Why does someone else have to average 10 less points if its all in the flow of the offense.
Because unfortunately that's the pace we play at. With Harden and Embiid, a lot of our offense is creating an iso situation for them which eats up the clock a lot. So we're probably not going to be able to score a lot more on average.

Awesome points. So when do "promises" and egos take a back seat to what is best for the team and winning? Will it can it with this team? There are only so many prime Embiid years left. Someone has to step up and make it about team. It would seem to me that since Doc is basically on the hot seat, he has to be the bad guy, it's on him. He can't be everyone friend. And yes being the bad guy will bruise some egos but it will save his job and winning cures a lot of things. Also he needs to get the team leader to buy in. Get the leader to do some of his dirty work. At this point that's Embiid, no? I wonder who the team leader is on Golden State. Who is the guy that tells other players, you suck and need to come off the bench. Or your job is so and so.
I'm hoping Shake has found his groove and will now be the guard spark off the bench.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

I think the promises come from the president. And I get it. Doc, could go rogue, but I'm not sure that's what's best for the team long term... Hell short term. Joel is the leader, but also Harden has to be about winning too. He has the leverage
