What a wild day of results, with Belgium/Germany crashing out! One bad 15 minute stretch against Japan really killed Germany's WC, damn (their games against Spain/Costa Rice weren't perfect, but acceptable results nonetheless). Edit: just read that so far this world cup, Germany leads the whole tournament in: shots, shots on post/crossbar, and xG, very un-German inefficiency, even if it was their defense that ultimately did them in.

At least this way, even if Holland get dumped out by the US (which we very well might), we'll still have gone further than our two main footballing rivals :D

I really hope Ghana and the Swiss win tomorrow!

Looks like Portugal is guaranteed to go through. And they will likely finish at #1 unless they lose to Korea and Ghana wins with excessive GDs

Same deal with the other group. I pulling for Switzerland. Brazil should finish at #1 unless they take an L to Cameroon and the Swiss beat Serbia with excessive GDs

All teams tomorrow have the possibility of advancing. Should be good. Unfortunately, Brazil and Portugal are already locked in. So they can't pull a Belgium/Germany. I doubt we will get a replay of this recent madness.

What a day! I don't think I ever witnessed that before. All 4 teams had the possibility of advancing or going home within those 45 minutes.

Amen. Sew their mouths shut next time. Maybe it'll help the team to focus better.

Germany made a ham-handed attempt to criticize Qatar's horrifying LGBT policies so now some of Real GM's best posters are big mad at them.

On that note, I've always been curious: How many different boards have you been banned from on Real GM?

Still hard to tell. I think it's fair, but in the end, there was not enough evidence to reverse the initial call.

What would have been interesting is if it was ruled out on the field. I think the ball is in (assuming we really have the best frame possible there), but so close that either field call may not have been overturned.

Love Adams. He seems to be everywhere on the field defensively when I watch the US play.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Who are your favourites to win now?

Glad you're enjoying the thrill of the games!

I think it'll be between Brazil, Spain and France. My gut feeling, for now, I guess it's France. Heart says Brazil, though!

I always root for Brazil, Portugal and Italy (due to heritage, my greatgrandparents came from there nearly a century ago). I've always liked England too, because of their culture, history, etc.

Who are you pulling for, besides USA? And who do you think will win?

I'm actually not pulling for USA. Nothing against them, just no link. I live in Canada, but they're out. Sochan cheers on England and Poland so those move up in attention. Agree about liking / being familiar with a country's culture and history as factors.

Basically if I have some connection, however created, then I cheer that team on. For example, when Zidane was playing I cheered for France. Favourite player back then.

Italy's always fun to watch for the drama when they get fouled (they're not the only ones. Other teams have learned lol).

That time Zidane went berserk and rammed his head into the Italian player's chest :o

Brazil always seems to have incredible dribbling and passing skills.

Also fun to see which underdog rises to strike down a Goliath.

Brazil and Portugal are the only undefeated teams so far, I think. We'll see how long it lasts.

I'd like to see England or France win with Poland somewhere in a surprise mix. Seems like it's Lewandowski's last WC so it would be nice to see him get some success. Of course Poland and France play each other in the next round so... tall task, but not insurmountable. So many supposed great teams have been caught so far.
