Re: Around the League - Vaughn Named Nets Coach
The league has really run scared of the NFL this year. Two weeks ago only three games were scheduled on Thursday and they were all on the west coast. Tonight only has one game scheduled and it's not very appealing at all.

The Mavs Pistons game is turning out to be pretty good
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Assume the fan was talking ****? Surprised Draymond's response was so tame.

Fire Kidd gives you a nostalgic feeling when you say it.

Re: Around the League - Vaughn Named Nets Coach
So Horford looked completely gassed and washed up trying to defend Giannis in the 2019 playoffs. And now it's almost 2023 and he just got a 2 year contract extension.
Performance enhancers are a hell of a drug.

How would you guys feel about retiring Brooks number? Do you have to give it to him if he wins DPOY?

Re: Around the League - Vaughn Named Nets Coach
A quarter of the way through the season and in the East I think there have been 2 really notable surprises. The big positive surprise is Indiana. I thought they'd have the worst record in not just the East but the NBA (which was primarily a function of thinking the bottom of the East would be better than the bottom of the West). I don't expect them to keep this up, but I do think they'll be a play-in team.
I thought there were 6 categories of teams in the East and the Bucks and C's were in the top and below them was Cleveland, Philly and Miami with Brooklyn as a wildcard. And while I thought the Bucks and C's were clear favorites, I didn't think the gap was huge between them and especially the Sixers and Heat and I look like I'm going to be very wrong about that. The Sixers have righted the ship to a degree since the slow start but the Embiid-Harden fit still isn't great and their bench is collectively not bad but they lack guys that the Bucks and C's have like Pat and Bobby and Grant and Brogdon, guys that would start on half the teams in the league and are 6th man caliber players. And I trust that Miami will right the ship to a degree when Jimmy gets back and they might even make a little noise in the playoffs (a 3-6 series with the Cavs would be lots of fun), but there's a clear ceiling on that team. And I thought while the Bucks and C's would be clear favorites against the Heat and/or Sixers, it wouldn't be shocking if the latter pulled the upset. Now however, unless they've got injuries its hard for me to see Philly or Miami getting an upset on the Bucks or C's.
And while Brooklyn has also righted the ship after that could've come completely apart, that is such a poorly constructed roster. Tristian Thompson and Dwight Howard have plenty of weaknesses in their games, but they do the things well that Brooklyn desperately needs and why neither is in Brooklyn is beyond me.
