dont see how that's rude, pretty legit comment/questions imo.
The pronunciation thing was dumb. That almost entirely comes down to how your particular country enunciates words. For example, living in South Texas around Spanish speakers for 20-plus years, tons and tons of people "mispronounced" my first name. I did not get offended. Hell, I've been watching most of the games on Telemundo and they pronounce everything depending to their style as opposed to anybody else's. It was a thinly-veiled attempt to provoke a response from a reporter from Iran's state propaganda network. A reporter from the same outlet apparently tried to badger Berhalter -- a soccer coach -- about why he hadn't used his position to pressure the US government into moving warships out of the region. I mean...
The actual question was absolutely legit.
the rudeness/frustration from the reporter encompasses the entire Muslim world, we're pretty damn sick of the sanctimonious and relentless finger waging by the West. this whole holier than thou attitude by Euros/Americans that they can go to someone else's country and lecture them about their own morals and cultures and traditions when no one on the planet has more blood on their hands than Westerners is peak fkn hypocrisy. just comedic levels.
we don't hear any lecturing from the Japanese. Or the Argentines. Or the Brazilians. Or the Costa Ricans. Or Uruguains. Or the Columbians. Or the Mexicans. it's always coming from the select few who think they are the center of the world and their morals and ideas should always take precedence over everyone elses.
as for the pronunciation question, his point was that it's hard to someone's opinion seriously about whats happening in Iran when they don't even know how to pronounce Iran.
like when someone talks to me about Iraq and says EYE-Raq...pretty good signal at that point to ignore everything they are saying about the country.
