I am not saying Bey is bad player either, just not sure he is longterm starter in this league. I have seen Detroit posters claim he is poor defensively and can't stay in front of 3s so he is better off as a small ball 4.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #4
Teams that seem poised to make a deal that I would be interested in speaking with.
Miami- They have Lowry, Duncan, Picks... trying to open future cap for Struss and Vincent deals
Washington- Need a point guard, have a bunch of mediocre prospects, good matching contracts and also own picks.
Mavs- Need to get Luka help, we have a few scorers we could dangle. Problem is they don't have much value outside of firsts to offer.
Lakers- of course, everyone already knows this one

None of these teams' assets are super inspiring.

Posted in the main trade board.
Hornets trade Rozier, Hayward, and Plumlee for Westbrook and Oatrick Beverly (both bought our or sit out).
We clear cap space and create playing time for the young players and get rid of enough talent not to win too many games and ruin lottery odds

No thank you.

this, cap space won't help us a great deal. we need something in return for our vets.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #4
I feel like a 3 way deal with us, Lakers and Nets is likely to happen at some point this season.
Rozier to Nets, Westbrook to Hornets and Kyrie to Lakers.
Not sure where the additional salary matching, picks etc comes in but I feel pretty confident in that type of deal coming down pipe at some point.
Nets don't seem like keeping Kyrie longterm is viable, they don't seem to want to trade KD so maybe getting a cheaper Kyrie replacement Terry makes the most sense. Nets have a few philly picks that could greese wheels of a trade or even a young guy like Cam Thomas.

Also, wouldn't be shocked if Bouknight was part of deal to Lakers just because they lack young talent soo much.
Best guess right now of a deal.
Nets send: Kyrie Irving
Nets receive: Rozier, Lakers 27 first, JT Thor, Oubre
Hornets send: Rozier
Hornets receive: Westbrook, Cam Thomas, Sixers first Nets own.
Lakers send: Westbrook
Lakers receive: Kyrie, Bouknight

I like the 3-way CHA/LAL/BKN trade idea. That actually seems like something these teams should be really trying to do, but I feel like these multi-team trades usually don't pan out even when they are obvious, so I'm not going to get my hopes up.

So...
Rozier, Oubre, Thor, Bouk
For
Westbrook and a late 1st?
I feel like we should get more for those players.

Thor is pretty worthless except to a team that completely lacks development players, same with Bouk at this point.
I had Cam Thomas in the deal as well, so it would basically be broken down as:
Cam Thomas for Oubre
and
Westbrook and 2023 first for Rozier.
If you want to say we get a 2nd round pick as well I am sure it could happen, but those don't really tend to swing trades.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #4
It doesn't help that Rozier is shooting 38% from the field and 30% from 3pt and his defense has somehow gotten worse than last season. His contract looks pretty iffy when hes playing like that as a small guard approaching 30.
Oubre is also shooting 31% from 3pt and hasn't been a positive even while giving a contract year effort, so best case for him is probably a 2nd out of a desperate team cuz I don't think there is anyone left in the league whose that interested in giving him a big role besides the Hornets.

I don't care what Oubres history is I'm getting something at least decent back for him considering the way he's been playing.

Rozier has been hurt, playing out of position majority of the time. He is at his best as a secondary ball handler where he can focus on scoring running off handoffs, pindowns etc... with LaMelo out he can still be a useful player but I think having someone who can set him up and he can play off is where he thrives..
Like a Ben Simmons in Brooklyn or KD.
If we can clear cap, pick up a prospect and a first in this years draft. I would consider using Oubre as part of a deal like that is valuable. Based on where we are picking we are likely picking in the draft we are taking another scorer at the guard position so getting off Rozier money makes more sense than ever.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #4
The Hornets would also be getting rid of 25 million in salary that could spent resigning players that are closer to LaMelo's age like Richardson and DSJ.
They would also effectively be improving the value of their pick this season by solidifying their chances of a bottom 5 record, hopefully avoiding Clifford trying to win games in February/March when the team gets healthy but theyre in like 13th place in the East standings.

Thor turned 20 a couple months ago. It makes no sense at all to me to trade him.
It's not like we have a ton of developmental wing players.

When the trade talk really heats up, Thor is going to be a complicated aspect of it. Really young, has all of the measurables you'd want, hard worker, is happy with playing a certain role, is already a decent defender, etc. But will teams value his potential as much as they should/we do? IDK. He was a 2nd round pick, he's super cost controlled. I'd rather keep him and have him in the rotation once we can (hopefully) offload the vets for any sort of reasonable return. He at least deserves a decent sample size of NBA games before we just throw him away for a less than ideal return.
BTW, I think Mitch deems Thor pretty untouchable, for as funny as that sounds. Mitch and MJ CLEARLY value 2nd round picks at this point (likely for financial reasons above all else), and since there is literally no clear plan from the organization right now, if Mitch isn't considering Thor as a long term investment not worth selling short on, then I'm not sure if he's considering anything at all other than which piece of real estate he's going to invest in next...lol...
