Watch this so you can chill before we lose to the Hawks and go back to this thread again

No, it's time to go on a typical Sixers regular season run which pads Glenn's record and saves his job for yet another year.

Even if we have IBM’s Deep Blue, this team won’t be able to win the championship, if this team rely too heavily on Embiid.
“We need to find the next JJ”
“We need to unclog the paint”
“We need someone who can create shots for him”
There’s no system on offense out there where Embiid can initiate the offense and no defense out there where Embiid can anchor the defense, that would let you get deep in the playoffs.
Will Embiid be OK if we play the right way?

I've never disagreed with that, and I don't know the answer to the last question, but it certainly is debatable.
One thing that is a sure fire guarantee - there is zero shot of anything new being tried or "playing the right way" if this coach remains. That is the one certainty here.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
The Hawks’ burst began with Embiid on the bench with four fouls. Following the game, the two-time MVP runner-up said, “in those situations, I feel like I really don’t have anything to lose. I should be on the floor. “I think I’m smart enough to not foul,” he added. “But I thought that’s probably when the game changed. They went on that run, and we could never get it back. … “I trust whatever my teammates and my coaches say. Tonight, it just happened to be, at the time, probably the wrong decision.”
Alright, Embiid publicly blamed the coach.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
So now Glenn can discuss the difficulties and obstacles of being a top flight coach on the same level as Pop while being black, and never getting the credit that he is due. The Sixers will then never have the balls to fire him.
Perfect timing, actually.

Some nice points about Doc, how he was hired and why Morey still hasn't fired him despite everything.
This is an interesting quote I somehow missed:
Here was what Doc’s former player Matt Barnes said this offseason, after Morey told us Doc would be back:
“Doc is a great, motivational, give-you-energy type coach. One thing that sticks with me is when he said ‘be a star in your role,’ Doc is great at these sound bytes that will get you going. But it seems like every situation he’s been in, a few years in, there starts to be a similar narrative. Guys are starting to tune him out, guys aren’t listening, .... there seems to be this similar narrative once Doc gets somewhere that first few years it looks good, ‘rah, rah, rah, then shortly after that it always seems to turn out to the same situation so, I’ll just leave it at that.”

It's probably the Timberwolves. Tim Connelly just got there. Chris Finch was hired by the previous organization.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
going to go against my best interests but....Doc has done a good job so far this season all things considered lol.
might have had no choice but he has adjusted quite a bit...which is not what I expected. I expected Trez to stay the back up 5 no matter what. He's gone to zone a lot more. I am interested to see what happens when Harden returns but a lot of my angst and misgivings is on the FO (which probably includes Doc...so he's not off scott free lol)

Should be interesting when the team is at 100% health again and Doc is forced to figure out how to create a symbiotic relationship with the superstars. Feel like Doc thrives when the chips are stacked against him and he’s forced to win with journeymen.

IMO they aren't firing Glenn until they lose in the first or second round again. It also wouldn't surprise me if they do the old "kick him upstairs" routine instead of firing him.

Especially if the injuries continue. And if it isn't that, it will be something else. And so on and so on until this group is finally broken up.

Re: The Official Fire Doc Rivers Thread
The Dunc'd On podcast guys have him as the leader for COY at the moment due to holding the team together with all these injuries.

I don’t think he can be a front runner after the first 5 games of the season where he didn’t have the team ready to play and rotations were awful.
COY is a 5 way race between Mazzulla, Bud, Bickerstaff, Willie Green, and Monty imo. They’ve all navigated injuries &/or complicated situations incredibly well and are the clear 5 best teams in the league.

Not like these guys are biased on the subject. If anything they don't seem to like Doc as a coach and made note that this distinction does not mean best coach.
The criteria for COY is a tough one to hone in on and it seems like there's about 5 guys that could win it every year.
