I had that same thought. One would have to come via luck off the lottery, but what might it take to also secure the other pick? Pipe dream, but...

I'm not convinced that when the lottery happens, Utah will be in the mix. Not sure how the NBA would feel about UT getting the rights for that, from a marketing point of view. When Lebron was drafted, how convenient was it that Cleveland just so happened to get that first pick and of course the Patrick Ewing to the Knicks is legendary. Not sure the league would love Utah being the team that gets a mega talent like that... There are a couple of NBA radio guys who have stated that Utah should get that pick, or at least they feel they are deserved as this is the first tank job ever and with few exceptions they have always been a decent to good team.

Win the lottery, figure out a way to use all the capital they have recently acquired to get both and build around that!

There are also always some surprise lottery teams each year; I wonder If you could get some of the teams that might think they're competitors to give up unprotected firsts for this year just in case one of them falls to the lottery and moves up. Heck even the T-wolves with some really bad injury luck could fall out of the play-in and into the late lottery where there's a non-zero chance they get the #1.

Could you get a team like the Pacers, Magic or Kings to give up their 23 for one of our vets + one of our future assets. If I were Ainge I would be doing all I can to get more lottery tickets.

Jazz (least favorable of 76ers, Nets, Rockets picks)

aLL those teams are terrible......the favorable is Borooklyn's now, 1-3
Houston and Philly are 1-4.....

Looks like it will be a good pick.

Out of all the teams in the NBA, it seems to me like only Houston and possibly Orlando are purposely tanking. Other teams at the bottom of the standings like the Nets, Heat, Pistons, Lakers, Clippers and Kings went in to the season wanting to be play-in teams at minimum. I guess it is possible the Nets really are a bad team though, notwithstanding having massive offensive talent in Durant and Irving. Disgruntled Durant might be playing more for personal stats and the hope of a trade than he is playing for wins. I think Philly, who has won two games since your post, will recover from their slow start to be a playoff team again if Embiid and Harden stay mostly healthy.

There's only been an open scrimmage and one exhibition game, but I'm liking how GG Jackson looks, especially for a 17 year-old. He's just got the right combination of things -- enough size, enough athleticism, enough handle, enough shooting touch, enough aggressiveness getting downhill, enough timing on steals and blocks. He's got the tools to be a significant player as a baseline.

I would have projected the Philly pick to be in the mid-20s, but now James Harden is injured and expected to be out for the next month.

Kyrie Irving is out the next 5 games. Keep this up that pick might be better than the jazz pick.

Actually if we got Gradey Dick at 19 that would great. He would fit right in with this squad. Other picks I would be pretty meh on. If Anthony Black were there at 14 I’d grab him as he would be the Conley/Floor General replacement.

A good Conley/floor general replacement would be Scoot Henderson, just saying...
Draft Nate Wolters - FAILED
Keep Nate Wolters - FAILED

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

As of this morning we would have the Minnesota pick around the 6th and the worst of Hou, Philly and Brooklyn, around 9th pick. We would lose our pick, looking pretty good. This season so far as been the perfect storm for us Jazz fans.

We could end up with first and second picks plus win the championship. LOL Need little help from above for that one.

Hah here's my early realistic draft and how it went down. Total sarcasm.

I could see the Jazz pick up Cason Wallace in the late lottery or mid-1st. He's not as ball dominant as Scoot, and he checks a lot of boxes that make him a Danny Ainge type.

Anthony Black started showing up in a big way a week ago. He's going to be a top-7 pick and would fit a need for the Jazz.

Towns is injured and will be out for 4-6 weeks.... maybe will improve our draft picks.. or maybe minny will be better without him.

I was hoping for 2 top end prospects such as Anthony Black + GG Jackson.

Now it looks like both could potentially be top 10 picks. Jazz might be lucky just to get one of them.

Getting one of the Thompsons or Anthony Black, plus a big wing like GG would be amazing.
