Tavarez

Hopefully he has some good starts because he's going to be the odd man out when Lester gets back. So hopefully he gets his trade value up.

I think he can bounce back and be a mediocre arm in the back of the pen. I'm not quite sold on Romero/Snyder/Piniero. I think Donnelly and Okajima will be good and I've always liked Javier Lopez. We really need a solid Timlin this year.

Tavarez will be a middle man once Lester is ready. I think he'll be fine in that role.

As for Snyder I like the guy. I thought he did very well in his first two innings last season then it seemed he couldn't get it done after that. So by that odd theory I think he'll be fine in the middle relief role.

I like Snyder too. I have more confidence in him than I have in Romero and Pineiro.

Tavarez would be the most logical guy to trade when Lester comes back though. Okajima was signed to be with the team, Pineiro is too expensive to get rid of, Snyder has no options and is better then Pineiro imo, Timlin isn't going n e where, Donnely isn't going n e where, Lopez has earned his spot so far and is cheap, Papelbon obviously isn't going n e where.

I guess maybe Romero instead of Tavarez. But someone will have to go when Lester comes back. Maybe Hinske packaged with one of them.

Tavarez will always have some value as a reliever in the National League.

Getting Jon Lester back will help this team in more than one way. When he comes back, the bullpen gets better. Tavarez will be put into the bullpen as middle relief guy for the 7th inninng. We get rid of Pinero because i trust Julian a lot more than that bum. I can't believe we actually could of had Joel closing!! Thats awful! I don't know what the Sox ever saw in this guy, he was a mediocre pitcher in Seattle who had a half a season experience in the bullpen. Now, with Tavarez in the 7th innning role, Snyder goes into long relief, and Timlin/Donnely split the role at the 8th inninng setup man. Lopez is long gone in Triple A by then. Romero/Okajima split time as the left handed specialist, although at this point i'd rather have Okajima. Of course, Papelbon is closing out games.

I don't think they will be able to get rid of Pineiro this early in the season, that's why I think Tavarez will be traded. But I agree that I trust Tavarez much more, that's why I think he will be traded though and his salary is about half of Pineiros I think.
As for Lopez he shouldn't be sent down but he might lose to the numbers game similar to Bryan Corey.

If Piniero sucks, trust me, the Sox won't wait until the All-Star break to unload him, he'll be waived when Lester comes back...

Is it my understanding that Tavarez will be skipped in the rotation due to the rainout?
