While true, our defense was atrocious tonight and allowed them into the paint at will. We had no answer and they had mismatches galore most of the time. That led to the foul discrepancy.
I'm not giving any excuses to the team tonight. They blew it and earned this loss in the worst way. Refs weren't the reason why. They let the Rockets dictate the game and deserved this loss.

Oh yeah, the Suns definitely could and should have won even with the FT discrepancy. Not excusing them. They need to be used to it by now, and also not just think they'll win a game by showing up. Ayton was off from the beginning and then picking up some quick cheap fouls exacerbated the suckage. Also would be totally fine with Saric NEVER playing again.

Celtics, Bucks, Nuggets all lost. Suns should have taken this opportunity to move up in the standings and create some separation in the West.

Monty should have saved his challenge for that last 'foul' on Bridges.

Hopefully this means we'll be going on the road trip pissed off though.

Blame my stupid little fingers I meant Wednesday but typed Friday. But if it was actually Friday then I possible had a time machine and traveled few days ahead.

For sure give me some lotto numbers or the score for the Houston game

I’m a Monty defender but I think he really set the wrong tone starting a guy that can’t even crack the rotation tonight. It should have been Lee, Okogie, or Wainright out there instead of Saric. Saric gives you nothing.

I don’t think he would have started that lineup against a better team but thought he could get away with it here.

Definitely agree that Dario had no business starting today. The only thing I can think of is showcasing him for a trade, which totally would have backfired.
Lol

Craig was missed today. Would have been nice to throw him and Mikal at Jalen Green.

Dario is not why we lost today though.

Let’s come out strong out of the gate again and continue to feed Ayton early. I love seeing the big man take it inside and dunk few times a game. Hope Booker continues his scoring ways maybe back to back to back 40+ point games?

This is a very temping betting line. I feel like it could be like the Orlando game from earlier this season where the Suns lost to a bad Magic team that didn’t have Banchero playing. And it’s a Friday night game. Feel like our young players kinda look forward to having fun over the weekend and take these Friday games lightly sometimes. Basically a trap game.

I’m gonna put some $$ on Houston, not really expecting to win but to keep it interesting and see what happens.

Still hope Suns just win and come out of it without new injuries.

Nice call

Can't win every game of course. Although it certainly doesn't help win we have multiple breakdowns both defensively and in terms of adjustments and rotations from our coach as well as blatantly egregious free throw discrepancy on top of our struggles.

In typical suns manner, we played down to the other team and didn't show enough respect to play hard the full game. Soon or later we were bound to relapse a bit. But what is really most disconcerting to me is that in the face of adversity we still have the tendency to get rattled and struggle when we should instead step up.our games and intensity to offset such things. It's bad enough that we still haven't learned from the same issues ( sense of urgency/ consistent effort) after multiple seasons now and we're still taking things for granted and assuming we'll just win!

The other factors I've mentioned ad nauseam are still on display in that the root of these issues being our aversion to young, athletic, long, aggressive players and that enforcer type of player that can be physical back and score through/ draw fouls and energize our team when we get passive at times ( STILL) regardless of the physicality. Opposing teams/ coaches know that we're a skilled But soft finesse team and the simple blueprint to beat us on most nights is by simply being physical and aggressive with us because we're not yet mentally equipped to overcome it. They muck things up with physicality and we get rattled and then we start struggling.

If these issues aren't addressed properly before the postseason, teams should have a field day with us. I have no problem with our regular starters, but fully believe that our roster composition should be built around:

Starters-
What we currently have (with the exception of a legitimate 3& D big, physical defensive 4 next to Ayton.

Bench players-
Proven vet contributors that are versatile and can be utilized in a variety of matchups. Both skilled AND long athletic energizers.

3rd rotation-
This should consist of long, young, strong, hungry, physically dominant, ultra athletic young talent either found in GLeague or via the draft. And they should primarily be high motor energizers or specialists via their talent/ skillset; Lockdown defenders, iso scorers, floor spacers, shotblockers. These skillsets that we can utilize in individual matchups as necessary. Having such athletes and long physically aggressive players will offset our lack.of efficiency when our skill abandons us.

Agree we should hit our free throws but the refs again were horrible and rewarding the "aggressive" team whatever that means becaus that's usually a team not named the Phoenix Suns.

Monty should have gotten himself a tech after a series of bad calls or missed calls like the hack on Ayton that was a blatant foul but the refs are too timid to call fouls on Suns as they usually are. He's normally way too calm when the refs are being way too biased against the Suns, he needs to stop being so damn composed all the time.

Me saying on first page Suns are force feeding Ayton playing this opponent turned out so true lol. Saric needed three shots for all starters to have more shots than him. Then there is Lee. Looks like a run and gun game was played.

Weird ending. Only Payne didn't have opportunity for a winning shot. Booker missed twice with second one being forced shot after Lee decided to pass rather than become the hero again. Strange decision.

Also 5 of the seven was 1 or 2 points, and in 3 of those the opponent (at least) doubled our FTA.

Kinda crazy to think that if we were (a bit more) healthy, and Jae didn't have his head up his azz we'd have 3-4 losses only in the season. :o

I'm all for playing Dario but he should probably have come off the bench since he hasn't touched the court in the past few games.

Wondering when we just run out of big bodies due to injuries and it will really suck if Bridges is also injured with his possibly hyperextended knee.

Is it time to panic and sign Melo on a 10 day contract?
