Next 10 Games Prediction

Post#1 » by TheHartBreakKid » Sat Dec 3, 2022 11:34 am

I think I do this once a year on the Laker board when there's an interesting stretch of games coming up.

How do you think the next 10 games will go?

For me:

Lakers @ Wizards- W
Lakers @ Cavs- W
Lakers @ Raptors- L
Lakers @ Sixers-L
Lakers @ Pistons- W
Celtics @ Lakers- W
Nuggets @ Lakers- L
Wizards @ Lakers- W
Lakers @ Suns- L
Lakers @ Kings-W

That's a pretty difficult schedule for any team. Out of those 10 games, only 3 are against below .500 teams (Wizards 2x and Pistons).
Also 7/10 on the road, and the Wizards are only half a game behind 0.500.

I'll be happy if they go 6-4, assuming everyone stays healthy.

Lebron got hurt last game. So for me, I can't say for sure. But I will say this coach has these guys playing how I would do it. Attacking the rim, and playing with size. We ain't the warriors, we can't play that way. But Westbrook game is attacking rim. Lebrons size gives him a huge advantage. And we've been telling AD to get closer to the basket for years. This style of play is our best plan of action. But there are trade offs

If we play at the same level as the win over the Bucks, I say 7-3

I see imo:

Lakers @ Wizards- W
Lakers @ Cavs- W
Lakers @ Raptors- W
Lakers @ Sixers-W
Lakers @ Pistons- W
Celtics @ Lakers- W
Nuggets @ Lakers- W
Wizards @ Lakers- W
Lakers @ Suns- L
Lakers @ Kings-L

This next ten set I observe is a true litmus test of how our winning percentage will be going forward.

I truly believe this team at this point in its current state can achieve this.

Three caveats:

1 bron/ad stay healthy (UNLIKELY.. YOU READING THIS AD?? IM BANKING ON YOU TO DO YOUR USUAL INJURY THING ...DONT LET ME DOWN HERE, YOU HEAR ME???)

2 westbrick doesn't buy into his 6th man status any longer and wants to revert back to vintage starter westbrick destroying our team.

3 we get away from our bread and butter transition game/attack-the-basket offense and start chucking threes (why? Because every nba team needs to chuck threes, so...why not us???)

Barring no injuries 7-3 .... Barring 1 injury out of big 3 I'd say 4-6 ... Let's hope no Injury

Not going to say which games though LOL

Ok maybe

Pistons: because they'll be tired and Lakers lose - they always lose games they should win
Celtics and Fans start booing again and demanding trades because of 2 game losing streak
Suns - Booker going to destroy US as always, Bev vs Booker should be fun If Bev still on team

I missed the wizards game so I added the charlotte game. Gonna go 7-3 on my selection if they can go injury free. Gonna say they loss raptors game on a back to back as it’s a tough game and who knows if they might sit someone for rest. Risky pick but at home after a solid road trip I think they could surprise BOS. Maybe they’ll lose that one and beat Denver but I expect a split out of those two and they’ll lose in PHX if that was at home I’d like their chances more but should be competitive as the last game was good without LBJ

Honestly, I had us going 1-2 during the 3 game stretch @ Cavs, Raptors, 76ers when healthy, so I'm not too concerned about 0-3 with the big 2 sitting out games.

I hope both Lebron and AD play tomorrow against Detroit to get some rhythm and confidence back before the Boston game.

Bumping this thread to discuss the next 2 weeks/Next 7 games.

Three important things going on;

1. A really tough schedule, with 5 on the road
2. Exactly two weeks from now is the trade deadline
3. Lebron possibly being on pace to break the record

To me, those three factors are all interrelated, and I think the next 7 games will define the season;

A 2-5 record would mean being 6 games below 0.500, with 56 games done with the season. Why make a trade jeprodizing the future at that point? But a 5-2 record means being right at 0.500 with all the momentum in the world. There will be pressure on the FO to make a move and give up picks. As crazy as it sounds, a 0.500 healthy Laker team at that point might be one move away from being a contender.

How do you predict the next 7 games going?

My prediction:

Lakers @ Boston- W
Lakers @ BK- L
Lakers @ NY- L
Lakers @ Pacers- W
Lakers @ Pelicans- W
Thunder @ Lakers- W
Bucks @ Lakers- L

Thunder @ Lakers - 80%
Bucks @ Lakers - 50%

I'm thinking it will be 4.5 wins and 2.5 losses.. So either 5-2 or 4-3
