Oh cool, another ACRONYM all encompassinng basketball stat. Just what we needed :)

Am I the only one who thinks these are dumb and a pointless pursuit to measure players who are in different systems with different responsibilities.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

They've been great but they don't even have the best net-rating (PHX) and that mark is inevitably going to cool off drastically. Even beating Brooklyn yesterday they hit 39.5% on 38 attempts yet only managed a 108.5 offensive rating. We'll see how well their offense adjusts once they stop shooting like the 73-win Warriors on steroids.

Know the bucks can get hot for like 2 or 3 games from 3 n shoot lower 40s the board goes crazy.I would love for the bucks to be able to shoot the 3 like Boston not for just 2 or 3 games but like 20 straight.I think 8 guys on that team are over 40%

If the Celtics can shoot over 40% from 3 on 40+ attempts over the course of the season and playoffs then they’ll win the title. Historically it would be a crazy outlier if they pulled it off.

It will be really interesting when (or if) Boston cools off because their defense doesn't look like it's on the same level as last season. I don't know how it ranks statistically so far, I am just going by eye test from watching a few games. But it's noticeably not as good. If their offense cools off and their defense doesn't improve, I wouldn't be shocked if Boston ended up being the #3 or #4 seed when it's all said and done. I am not predicting that, I think Boston and Milwaukee are the clear #1 and #2 seeds in the east if both teams stay healthy, but I wouldn't be totally shocked if Boston dropped in the standings by April. They're shooting the lights out which is scary if it continues, but their defense has looked pretty meh compared to last season.

Time Lord coming back will help obviously but even when he was out last season, Boston's defense still looked a lot better than it has this season.

I think these stats also measure the success of the system along with the performance of the player. Many believe that you can move a player to another team and he just brings his stats with him, but in reality the team helps the player be good as much as he helps them. That's common knowledge for anyone who's played organised team sports, and yet so hard to capture in numbers.

The Lakers hot takes are especially stupid when you take even a quick glance at the numbers. Outside of their single quality win against us, they've had to put up a 120+ OFF-RTG in 6 of their 8 wins just to beat a bunch of bottom-feeders. Their only other quality opponent (PHX) predictably ran them off the floor despite missing a bunch of guys. Never ceases to amaze me how obsessed some are with extrapolating small sample data into trends that aren't there. That laughable StatMuse tweet trying to compare AD's last 19-games to an entire 72-game MVP season of Giannis is a perfect example.

Imagine this Hawks team if they didn't pass on drafting Haliburton? They could of dumped Trae on some sucker for a kings ransom, and been a true contender.

Raptors favored over the Celtics

Hawks could have paired Giannis and Bud earlier if they had either accepted the Josh Smith trade or just not fired Larry Drew until after the draft (so he doesn’t bring the Giannis intel with him to Milwaukee).

Would have had 2nd year Giannis on the team that went to the conference finals.

2nd game of a B2B and without Brogdon or Horford, I definitely favor the Celtics over is this year again.

It's double OT?

Thought PJ's 2 point outburst would've been enough...

Ron Swanson wrote:We all remember that Trae quote last season where he claimed "the regular season is boring now" right? Then they proceeded to go 43-39 and get gentleman's swept as an 8th seed in the 1st round. He's the rare player where you watch him on the court and you know 100% what his actual off-court personality is. Entitled loser mentality is strong with him. I'm not saying he's slightly richer man's Brandon Jennings, but....

I don't think that's fair to BJ. I never minded having him around the team or in the locker room. His issue was he was dumber than a bag of bricks. Jennings never understood how to play PG so he was always a huge negative on the court. At least Trae helps his team when he's on the court.
