Looking at my top 5 Spotify artist from 2022 and had to laugh.. one of these is not like the others. (How the hell do I get 'prermision' to post a picture from Tapatalk app?)

1. Pearl Jam
2. Phish
3. Grateful Dead
4. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
5. Widespread Panic

I was surprised to see that Spotify Wrapped and my Last.fm mostly matched up. I always assumed Spotify Wrapped was bullsh*t.

Top Artists:
1 - Banks
2 - The Gaslight Anthem
3 - Ghost
4 - Delaney Jane
5 - Halsey

Top Songs
1 - Halsey - So Good
2 - Cold - A Different Kind of Pain
3 - Refused - New Noise
4 - Banks - Skinnydipped
5 - The Gaslight Anthem - We Came to Dance

I wish I could see what I listened to most on Youtube, since I've been gradually relying on that more when I'm at work. I've spent a lot of days only listening to "My Mix" because their algorithm is so good.

If you like 90's music and are thinking about a trip out to AZ to catch some Brewers spring training games you might want to check this out: https://www.inningsfestival.com/arizona

Mine makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I just do not get how this works.

Top Songs
1. Pinegrove - Alaska (33 times? lol)
2. Courtney Barnett - Write a list of things to look forward to
3. Sam Fender - Seventeen going under (this is - by far - my most played song)
4. Arlo Parks - Softly
5. Good Morning - Country

Top Artists
1. Pinegrove (only 88 minutes - Alaska alone would take up 68 minutes)
2. Arcade Fire
3. Spoon
4. Soccer Mommy
5. Local Natives

You embraced the night with Proud Angst Healing

I got sad remembering why I listened to so much Foo Fighters this year.

Turns out Youtube does have a recap. Click here if you're interested.

Top youtube plays this year:

1 - Refused - New Noise
2 - Dorothy - Rest in Peace
3 - Guns N' Roses - Don't Cry
4 - Temple of the Dog - Hunger Strike
5 - Alice in Chains - Would?
6 - Bush - Glycerine
7 - Avenged Sevenfold - Afterlife
8 - Halestorm - Love Bites
9 - Metallica - One
10 - Guns N' Roses - Patience

Not surprisingly, my top 100 list is 90% radio rock. That's what I prefer to listen to when I'm at work.

All I can say is I listened to MC Paul Barman's "Bleeding Brain Grow" an alarming number of times, but TBF it does include the line "I made a Planned Parenthood out of transparent wood."

I share my Spotify with my wife so our top 5 tends to be mainly her influence or stuff we can listen to together but then the top 100 playlist includes incredibly bizarre range of music. Our top 5 artists was:

1. Bastille
2. Maggie Rogers
3. Paul Simon
4. The Killers
5. Vance Joy

But our top 100 includes artists like Looking Glass, Anderson Paak, Kygo, Jay & The Americans, Sam Cooke, Alvaro Soler, Paramore, Motley Crue, and the Encanto soundtrack lol

Anyway, came here to post about Nas. Songs/albums flow out of him in a constant stream, with very little distinguishing one from the next, and yet I'd still rather listen to Nas rap than 99.9% of all other sounds. I hesitate to call the new album "good", but it's Nas rapping so yeah it's good.

Paul Barman's got me thinking about other turn-of-the-millenium era rappers I've forgotten existed. This was in regular rotation:

This post has been rattling around my cranium for a bit. Nas has put in 30+ years, remains vital, his writing is still sharp and there's no sign he will slow down. Probably the closest thing in hip-hop to a Dylan or Springsteen in that he's going to keep rapping and that it is obligatory to still check on his new material each time. Rapping hasn't been a springboard for him other than the opportunity to keep rapping. I think "Magic" is a great record and the new one doesn't reach that level, but yeah, it's Nas on a record, almost perverse to complain.
