Are the Suns finished?

Post#1 » by pj0tr » Thu Dec 8, 2022 4:44 pm

Dallas destroyed them on Monday, and Boston threw the dirt on their grave last night.

They quit, rolled over, and let another beatdown happen with zero resistance.

They validated every single negative thing said about them, and just said "flush it" after the game.

Hate to be one of those guys, but that looks like a team that has hit its ceiling with their current roster - I think Boston and Dallas both figured out the Suns bench was horrible, and absolutely throttled the Suns when the Suns bench came into the game.

They might be finished pending any significant roster moves. Weird to say for a 16-9 team, but with back to back games against the Pelicans coming up, and a game vs. the Clippers, they could easily fall to the play-in spot within the next week.

Probably a bad stretch.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

yes.... they are finished.. 16-9 without chris paul for a chunk of it, 25 games in with 2 bad games, it's not even all-star game yet, sitting 2nd in the conference... sure they're finished..

Every team has bad nights, but the thing that strikes me is the Suns just don't have much fight in them when things get tough. We saw it in the postseason and if anything it's worse now. It's weird to say since their record is good but I wonder if they need a little shakeup with the roster. Doesn't seem like they have the best chemistry or are the tightest-knit group.

Edit: to clarify, no I don't think they're "finished" after a couple bad early season losses. I was just thinking about a weakness I see and how they can get better.

They just seemed to "wilt" when the Celtics upped the physicality.

Like DA let Grant Williams just talk **** and make the "too small" gesture to him all night, and he didn't retaliate - he just took it.

Yeah... no. The last 2 games were definitely disappointing but lets add some context here. They are 2nd in ORTG, 8th in DRG and 4th in NRTG with CP3 playing 11 subpar games, Cam Johnson playing in only 8 and Crowder exiled from the team. I'd say they are in great shape 1/4 into the season. Guys like Bridges, Booker, Payne, Craig and Lee are all having career years.

The got smacked by the Celtics last night but which team isn't? What I do find concerning is Ayton's play and lack of aggressiveness and honestly no movement on the Crowder front despite the team having a glaring hole that he would come in and fill. Despite how heralded Monty Williams is, it is surprising that he essentially alienated his starting frontcourt from last season with Crowder at home and Ayton playing well below his potential.

Won't be surprised if they make the finals or lose in the first round.

They are the least intimidating opponent out of the contenders and pretenders
I doubt any top team is losing sleep about meeting them in the playoffs and probably for good reason

PHX has the talent. They need to play through rough patches and get healthy for the post season.

The Suns aren't finished but CP3 is. Can't expect to win a ring if your starting PG is shooting 26% from 3. He's still an amazing assist leader at age 37 but I think Booker and Ayton need a younger, more versatile two-way player.

Grant Williams does that to literally every other player in the NBA and no one has "lost it" at him yet. The league as a whole is pretty aware that Grant Williams is an instigator that is trying to get you to be upset and lose your cool.

Can't wait to see which other team is 'finished' after a rough loss. By April 90% of the teams will have waived the white flags.

Yes they're done. This team has some great players on it, a solid coach, and a quality system that lets them win a lot of games. But when the pressure is on, it folds like a cheap shirt. They have not mentally recovered from that brutal humiliation last season, and they likely never will. Ayton doesn't have that dog in him and CP3 will be washed sooner than later.

lmao finished? it's a rough regular season stretch, they'll be fine. They're going to get a chance to have their say in the playoffs again this year and we'll see what happens.

I don't see them as real contenders the way they seemed two years ago when CP3 could still play at a very high level. I think they are just another 50 win type team.

Still have them coming out of the west because the west is pretty average this year aside from like a few teams.
